De-Stash December (Stashbust September continues!)

Isn’t that odd how that happens? It’s like I don’t even like this yarn, how did I get here? But luckily DK is a great yarn weight for so many different projects!

What daughter wants, daughter gets! You were in the spirit of making a wearable, so you get full points from me for this week :joy: And that’s a fabulous way to use up the yarn even faster - the bag sounds super cute, too! Excited for a pattern!

(Don’t tell, but I also pull from both ends at once. :zipper_mouth_face:)

No worries! Hope you’re feeling better!

I hope you’re feeling better, if not already then soon! That sounds like such a bummer about the skein :weary: Was probably a good call to just knot it back together instead of trying to keep detangling. A big gold star for you for even trying, haha.

That’s amazing news about the skein progress, though! A happy surprise indeed! Glad you were able to cake it up and it looks like it will be easy breezy going forward!

You’ve been busy this week! I’m amazed you even got that far on your project with a pattern test, as well! I feel your pain, truly - I hope you got some stitching time in.

Also this just goes for everyone, but please no one feel pressured to finish your prompt project and post it by the end of the week. Obviously that’s fantastic if you are able to finish, but it’s not a requirement to participate. Just wanted to throw that reminder in here for anyone tuning in later. ^.^ The prompts are mostly just to get inspo and keep things fresh, but you’re welcome to post the results/wips of your destash projects at any time. <3

It’s been so fun for me to check in here and see what everyone is working on - thanks a bundle to everyone participating!

(And thank you, Kaylee! The antibiotics are starting to do their job, so I’m hopeful. :hugs: )

Goodness, that is unfortunate you were laid up/unwell so long; I hope you’re on the mend now. :heart_decoration:

As disagreeable as the yarn may be for you on a sensory level (which I def understand :grimacing: ), I have to say that is a glorious colorway (only a little biased because it has several of my fave colors in it, haha) - I can see why you would have gravitated towards it! A basket seems like a clever way to use it, too. Look like you’re already making great progress!

Oh this came out so lovely! The stitching is really nice and the star tie/dangles are absolutely adorable - my sister would flip her lid for something that cute! Great work!

WOW! You did a lot of work in a little bit of time! It’s coming along fabulously - can’t believe this is your first wearable - well done!

@LoafOfBread You’re our first winner! Yay! :tada:

Let me know if you want me to just pick a random pattern from your wishlist or feel free to respond with a link to one you want! <3

Thank you to all of you who joined in this week; it was a highlight of my days to see your projects and goals. I will try to get the next prompt posted later tonight, but it will definitely be posted by tomorrow, as will the inspo post!

I apologize for not being as active as intended this week; I had a lot going on with some health issues, starting a new job, and finishing up my first pattern, so I was a bit distracted. I did end up starting the shawl I talked about, but I only made a few rows of progress. Will definitely share as I make more headway, though.

Thanks aha it genuinely took almost the whole day to do :joy: glad the antibiotics are kicking in! I’m not sure if I’m getting better but I believe I found out why I’m under the weather (black mold in my AC, I have to sort that all out) assuming that’s what’s making me sick I’ll definitely get better soon lol just a good time for anyone who owns an AC to occasionally look at your AC to make sure it’s just circulating good clean air into your room :mask:

Congrats to the winner!
Sounds like you also had a lot going on, excited to see about the first pattern! Also to see the shawl progression!

Clearly yesterday did not go as I intended, haha, had a bit of a regression with my illness.

However I’m here to share this week’s prompt as promised (though the monthly calendar is available on the first post if ever I’m delayed again).

This week the focus is on decoration and/or functionality. Although listed as Home Goods/Decor, it really applies to any space one occupies.

(I’ll be updating/formatting this post once I have access to a computer, but I wanted to give you all the prompt at the very least.)

I’ll be destashing from my: Yarns

My goal(s): To get rid of some of my unlabeled yarn

The Project: I want to make a placemat or desk/shelf cover for a shelf so it looks nice. It’ll be simple just a square/rectangle and I plan to use the shell stitch for it

Yarn(s): A black yarn that unfortunately I lost the label to and can’t remember what it was, I have several yarns like that and want to destash them since I honestly have no clue what it is lol if I have to guess it’s a weight 4 yarn

Crochet hook: I’ll be using a Boye H-5.00mm

Also I did manage to finish the knit shawl from the first week, and all three skeins! It’s too long to take a photo but I did get a photo of it folded. Here it is!

I just need to weave in all the yarn ends but it’s done! Probably have to block it to make the back longer. The border even if I didn’t manage to get a good photo of it looks beautiful!
I’m debating whether I should make several home/office decor since I’m sure I’ll get this done today, the only issue is finding a place for it lol

My go to yarn is probably worsted weight specifically Bernat super saver yarn but honestly I can be a bit experimental since if it’s on sale I’ll gravitate towards it  Also the examples are great! Giving me ideas not only for the prompt but gift ideas for others I haven’t thought of!! Sorry to hear about the regression of your illness!

First September destash (week 1-7)

Summary

I’ll be destashing from my: WIPs and Yarns

My goal(s): To finish the WIP and/or finish the skeins for this WIP

The WIP: A knit shawl , here’s the current photo from my WIP. Click here for pattern on YouTube

Yarn(s): Lion Brand - Boogie Nights in High Roller (3 skeins)

I’m still on the first skein. It’s hard to capture the color of the yarn, but it does feel soft, this yarn is solely for the WIP so hopefully it’s the exact amount! Or at the very least whatever’s leftover is enough to make something else

Needles: Using Susan Bates circular knitting needles US 11/8.0mm - 24 inch/61 cm

I’ll for sure update when I finish the shawl or at the end of the week, maybe when I finish a skein and show some progress to see how far along that skein went

Summary

So some updates with some bad and good news  First here’s my first comment with my info all in the summary for those interested

So bad news: I’ve been a bit under the weather so I haven’t done as much as I would like and I actually spent almost the entire day trying to go through one of the skeins since it was a tangled, knotted mess :mask::persevere: I ended up having to cut some of the yarn and knot them back together since it was starting to get a bit thin with all the moving to untie it

The good news!! I actually thought I was on my 1st skein of three turns out it was actually my second skein! I just finished it so I’m on my third and last skein! I managed to untie all the knots and cake it up so while I will have to weave in the ends of the knots it’ll be smooth sailing! And while it is a bit thinner (not much) it does mean it’s a bit longer now too lol  I also tested a pattern yesterday and finished one skein of unused chenille yarn that I planned to destash so that’s good! Since the wearable prompt ends tomorrow I’ll probably share the final photo at the end of the day, hopefully I can finish it today or tomorrow! Really want my knitting needles back lol

Also I love reading and seeing what everyone else is up too!

I promise to respond to everyone tonight after work! I had my first non-training day and was wiped last night, but the rest of the month should be better! I hope you’ve all been doing well. I’ve curated some Home Goods/Decor ideas for you who are still thinking (like me )! Better late than never right?

As usual, you don’t need to use any of these patterns (though you’re ofc welcome to do so), but they are just inspiration for this week’s prompt!

Finally achieving normalcy after what feels like a couple weeks of yuckiness. Thank you for the kind words. I hope you’re on the mend and have got things sorted on your end - black mold is no joke!

Your shawl came out beautiful! I’m eager to see your (various) home goods makes! Shell stitch is gorgeous- I’m sure it will look really nice in your space!

Great idea destashing unknown yarns in your collection - SMART way to keep things more organized in your current stash! I havent worked with Bernat super saver, but it is on my to-try list! I feel you on hitting up that sale section. :face_with_peeking_eye:

I’m glad the examples are helpful! I know myself I have a tendency to just think of a handful of things wrt to home goods, but there are SO MANY options, and I wanted to share those with you all!

LOVE this idea! I just came across a vanilla bean cat (? Maybe bunny?) pillow that would look so cute in a fuzzy yarn! But honestly I think any pillow would be cute with that fluffy texture!
