You’ve created a monster. But a really cute one. I would place the eyes just above where you expand to make the mouth. So between the two eye placements you have shown. I think it’ll be really cute tbh.

Huh it looks a lot like the drawing, I can’t really tell what went wrong…to me it just looks a little too tall and not wide enough? Just my opinion, but the chick looks so adorable!

I think it looks great as is! You could always add the options of eyes in the pattern if someone would like to do that. Regarding duck vs chick, there seems to be a fine line in the crochet world
