oki so for a while i have been debating as to if i have audhd. I watch a youtuber named candycourn and they make videos that about their audhd experience and it’s literally me
i know it’s like a very high chance but idk if people will believe me bc i’m like really “popular” (i’m in student council, honors classes and that sort of stuff) but it’s lowkey exhausting bc i have such high standards for myself
also i have major sensory issues (mainly food related) and i can only down like 2 foods without becoming extremely uncomfortable
and i mask very majorly bc i feel like the only time i can be comfortable is when i’m with myself at like 3 am![]()
and i feel like eye contact is really weird for me and lots of time people have said i was being “weird” or “rude” bc i don’t talk a lot when it’s not required(i do with friends tho) and also i have lowkey debilitating special interests bc i like forget to do literally everything (also kinda unfocused) if i’m crocheting or playing animal crossing
I dont really ever wear different clothes either bc i jus wear sanrio shirts and stuff bc that’s one of my special interests :p there is a lot more of stuff but i lowkey don’t wanna say all of them lol too much work :p
if anyone has insights please let me know :)
Hey, audhder in the middle of the process of getting a diagnose here :]
Imma be real with ya, those are pretty generic symptoms, kinda like the “quirky” side/portrayal of autism/adhd in social media. Im not ruling out the possibility of u having it, nor am i calling u out or anything, pls dont feel bad abt it! Its ok!! :] but I’d recommend further research abt the topic and hearing from different people’s experiences, cuz just bc u identify with one ytber isnt really a sign u have the same disorders as them. I do think u can be neurodivergent, i trust ur gut feeling, but pls seek help from a professional who can help u on ur journey of understanding urself. It can be REALLY freeing, but yeah, it takes some time :]
Wishing u the best out there <333
Look, I watch them too, but they said in a previous video that if you relate, it doesn’t always mean you have that. Autism means struggling socially (and possibly mentally), and sometimes people just have not the best social skills, and that’s not autism. Autism is very dehabilitating (idk how to spell) and impacts your life so much. Masking is hiding autistic traits, like stimming. If you don’t stim or do anything to self soothe yourself then you are not masking. You might have adhd, but a lot of people think so, just try to get diagnosed. (Also having special interests doesn’t mean you have autism! Those are just hobbies and things you like, and everyone has them! If your special interests have persisted for years and constantly impact your life every day negatively or positively, that is more like autism) also don’t try to see audhd as different that ASD and ADHD. Audhd is just someone having adhd and autism, not something new. Look for more resources to know, like a video on YouTube “what is autism?” By the American physiatric association. Also you could find someone to get diagnosed, but that can be very expensive.
Coming from a person with diagnosed adhd and a brother with autism :)
I’m a late diagnosed AuDHDer. It was seeing people telling their stories on social media in my mid thirties that made me understand. If you can, get assessed! The sooner you know, the sooner you can start accommodating your needs. I was a very “successful” young person (gifted child, college graduate) and now a very “failed” adult (unemployed, dead marriage, home is a mess). Believing the worst about yourself for years is not worth it. Constantly pushing through can cause major burnout, and burnout can cause some serious regression, which is even more frustrating than anything that came before.
idk but literally everyone in my family has it lol ![]()
yeah i do hide traits like stimming a lot but i just didn’t include everything lol
Yea i have lots of ppl who have asd in my family too (all of my cousins + my dad and grandpa), but thats not a sign you may have it too. Like i said before no one knows yourself better than u, but adhd/asd/both are pretty complex and arent just some quirky traits that make you “special.” It’s literally debilitating
