What’s your favorite air dry clay brand?

Lo key I love dollar general air-dry clay!!
I haven’t really used air dried clay, but I looooove baked clay!
My favorite brands are;
Sculpey
Fimo (soft)
And Cernit Translucent
Here’s one of my charms:
But i should get some air dried clay again!
I used to sculpt all the time with it.![]()
Such a cute shark
Like the Crayola one right? I always want to go but never find a chance

I know! Once I went, and I actually found it but I didn’t have my money ![]()
I just started making my own cold porcelain clay. Super buttery smooth, can make any color I need, and it’s made with basic household ingredients…. I’m super excited and this is my first batch so if I did it correctly it’ll be incredibly strong when it dries.
(It uses corn starch, PVA glue, baby oil, and vinegar)
Nice! If it works out as you expected let me know ![]()

Will do! I just got a gallon of PVA glue from Michael’s so I can make more batches, it was a bit rough mixing it up this time as I was uncertain of heat. I had to do half a batch and guess a bit on heat and timing because of it.
I tried the microwave but I guess you can have more control with a double boiler setup.
Noooooo ![]()
Pretty sure I overcooked it as it was being a little difficult about not cracking (lotion helps some but looks like I’m getting small cracks as it dries. I’ll condition it with more lotion before trying to use this batch again.) Also learned that it is certainly not polymer clay and you need to use glue when attaching anything.
My little ghost’s arms fell off.
Edit: I found this video that is so much more helpful than any of the other’s I’ve watched. I may try mixing up a batch with these instructions this week and see how they handle.
First test went ok but not great. Little cracks from likely overcooking the clay and not understanding how to work with it. Ended up painting the eyes and mouth on after they fell off because I didn’t use the PVA glue to hold them on. Arms fell off and that’s just how it is.
I think I’ll give it a coat of white paint to fill the tiny cracks and call it a day on this first test. Also would recommend applying the keychain eyelet after it dries, not before. My clay was definitely not as creamy as they said it should be so I’m learning. That video definitely gave pointers that are super helpful that I did not know the first attempt. For now my kiddo is having a blast still with this batch, it definitely works but isn’t perfect.
the results are still extremely cute! ![]()
I love it still too! Broke the tail testing durability but I knew that was a weak point. I’ll likely glue it back on and I’m curious to see how visible the cracks are under a glazing. I have a cool iridescent one that I want to try. ![]()
