So I had the thought of making a doll version of one of my dnd characters. It’s, nothing that I’m super set in stone on it’s just a thought that’s crossed my mind and I’m kinda turning it around in my brain.
However, the dnd character I’m thinking of making has the challenge of, the outfit she’s wearing is very torn from having been attacked(important to story). And I don’t know if crochet is the best medium to, portray that? As cutting yarn would just risk it all coming apart. So people who are a bit more experienced with the creation of things, I want to just get a little bit of weigh in from others. Is there a way for me to make the dress through crochet, or should I sew a doll’s dress where cutting and making it torn and everything would be a lot less risky?

I think you could crochet it and embroider lines to make it seem cut, or you could make the dress have holes when your crocheting it by chaining a few time like 3 and then skipping the number of chains you did and continuing the row. I’m not really sure if this is what your talking about but good luck

Here’s Percy Jackson character I made for someone on Etsy and they wanted the pants ripped in a few places so I just embroidered white yarn on top of them

ooo, that looks really nice! a lot of her tears are like, rips and tears on the ends of a dress so I don’t think it would work nearly as well there. but this would work well if I made a doll for any of my other characters!!

It’s an OC for a dungeons and dragons game in in, so I don’t have a specific character I can point you to in afraid. The characteris based off of the girl from the fairytale “Brother and Sister”, specifically playing her in the period of time between when she was killed but before she was brought to life. So her outfit I mentally made for her matches the fact that she was a queen who was killed by her stepmother. A nice dress, but also shows that she had been attacked sort of thing.
If you’ve ever seen Ready or Not/Ready or Not 2, think the wedding dress the main character wears, just not THAT degree of destruction. Nor that fancy of a dress haha.
