Hi! I’m Pineapplesaurus! Everyone is super duper kind and helpful, and i think ur going to enjoy it here at Ribblr. Please don’t hesitate to DM me for anything!
I think u should start off with regular yarn bc I personally feel it is easier to crochet with and is rlly good for beginners! While fluffy yarn is great, it can be just a little bit challanging to work with (even i still have trouble with it sometimes even with having 3 year crochet experience!) so to answer ur question, I think regular yarn is the way to go! (sorry for the long explanation!)

Hi there! I’m Little! If you need anything, feel free to DM me, or if you just wanna be friends! Everyone here is SUPER nice and helpful, and here are just a few amazing people:
@PickledSweet @Paradise08 @MayaPapaya7 @BerriesAndCr34m @LoafOfBread @Bobacat123 @TheForestFrog
~I’m sure any of these people would gladly help you out!
I think you should probably start off with regular yarn because it is WAY easier to crochet with. Although fluffy yarn is soft and fluffy, it is INSANELY hard to see your stitches, so I definitely don’t recommend that for beginners. As you gain more experience, you can then move on to trying out fluffy yarn!

Hope this helped!

Hi, I’m Annabeth (Or Alex) I would love to be friends! (If you want to) If you’re just starting out, I recommend using regular acrylic yarn with a 4 mm hook because fluffy yarn is hard to work with. If you need help with anything, don’t be afraid to DM me!

Hey there! Welcome to Ribblr! It’s such a lovely community with everyone being super nice. I joined this year too, and I have to say, the warm welcome and support from everyone have made my experience really special.
Some of the amazing folks here are: @Bobacat123 @shrimpybrimpy @cuteascapybaras @CrochetCutesyCreations.

If you’re just starting out, I’d suggest trying out acrylic yarn with a 3 or 4-mm hook. Just a little tip—steer clear of black yarn at first, as I found it a bit tricky in the beginning. But don’t worry, I’m here to help! If you ever need anything or just want to chat, feel free to DM me. My DMs are always open, and I’d love to be friends! :smile: :heartpulse:

HELLO NEW PERSON :DD welcome to ribblr!! i’m elissa, feel free to message me with any questions :3 like everyone else here, i’d say regular is better for beginners. i learned to crochet with worsted weight and then made a few things with fluffy yarn and they turned out ok, but i definitely dropped stiches and stuff like that, so stick with regular until you’re more confident! hope you feel at home in our little community<3

Thanks for tagging me! I’d be happy to help with anything. Regular is way easier! I don’t use fluffy and I’ve been crocheting for 5 years :sweat_smile:

Hello! I hope you enjoy it here and welcome to Ribblr, to answer your question I suggest regular yarn (regular being anything but fluffy, chenille, eyelash, plush, novelty yarn, etc) perhaps weight 4 or bulkier so you can see your stitches easier as opposed to fluffy yarn where you have to feel your stitches rather than see which can be much more difficult to count stitches and ensure correct stitch count depending on the pattern

Here’s something I try to do when I can for newcomers :smile: if you ever need help never hesitate to ask in the community, if you need immediate answers feel free to use the help center, search in the community, or the wiki [link below] testing guidelines and community guidelines if needed :smile: Happy crafting! Hope to see your crafts soon as well :smile: congrats on your first post

hey there!! welcome to the awesomesauce world of ribblr <33 i’m shrimpy!! DM me whenever and if…ever (uh dont mind that) if you need help!! :D i dont bite!!
you’re rlly lucky that you found this website as a first time crocheter!! there are so many ppl here that can help you on your journey :)

okie now lemme answer your question: for yarn, it depends on what you mean by ā€œfluffyā€. i wouldn’t recommend any novelty yarns (eyelash yarn especially) for your first time, and i wouldn’t recommend fuzzy yarn either. fuzzy yarn is great to get an amazing final look, but it’s hard to see the stitches and requires a fat load of concentration. i personally started with acrylic yarn, which CAN fray but is overall really good for beginners!

honestly, i would recommend leaning onto video tuts on youtube if you’re completely new at crocheting, but ribblr is the best way to get used to reading patterns!

cant wait to see where your journey takes you :D
