How does the "% tests completed" work?

@Ribblr
So I’m approving testers for a pattern I have a call for, and there is a new % tests completed part next to the # of Karma a user has. This is very useful information, but I need to understand the number.

  1. can I see what my own % tests completed number is? Where?
  2. how is a test considered complete? If I’m gifted the pattern? Or is there more to it?
  3. how is a test considered incomplete? If we don’t finish and are removed? What about if testers are currently working on current tests? Do those count against testers?

Those are great questions

It normaly only shows after submitting a journal and IF they mark off the lines

  1. to see ur percentage you go to ā€œreview patternā€ (by where u submit a journal) and it shows on the top like this
  2. it is considered complete after the creator gifted you the pattern which is after you submitted a journal and would have the ā€œtestedā€ water mark on that journal picture.
  3. the creator wont remove you until they have warned you or if you ghosted them and if you are removed the pattern wont be in your testing lab anymore and you wont have access to it.
I think that answers all ur questions

Okay so for your first question (this is an assumption) I don’t think you can see your own % tests completed number :sob: and for the rest of your questions- I’m not sure :woman_shrugging:

I don’t think it’s for the journal because they haven’t accepted any of the testers yet

Oh sorry i must have misunderstood.

i doubt you can see it normally, BUT if you apply to your own test you might be able to see XD

  1. Not currently, but that could be a great addition in the future!
  2. Yes, you need the designer to mark it as completed
  3. Yes, incomplete would be removed or aborted.

  1. no I don’t think so
  2. if you finish making it and the designer gifts you the pattern
  3. if you don’t finish, abort, or ghost the designer I think. I don’t think it counts against but I’m not the expert here so don’t trust what I say :no_good_woman::joy:

There are 2 different % numbers now.

You are describing the % finished - the one I circled in yellow. That number is the same as the % lines marked when you complete a journal entry. (I just approved those testers, so they show 0% finished for now. )

The % tests completed - the one I have arrows to in red - is a new number designers didn’t have access to before. It only shows when the application is pending. Once I approve a tester and the pattern is put in their testing patterns, I no longer see the % tests completed number for that person. It’s replaced with % finished for this pattern only.

I believe % tests completed is a summary % of all the tests I’ve been a part of. Like the karma # tells me how many tests a person has completed, the % tests completed is the percent of tests a person completed out of the number they were approved to test.

You answered most of my questions, but not the above one.

It just seems like the % is lower than I would expect for some of the testers I’m familiar with. I’m wondering if they are getting dinged somehow.

I know many testers don’t turn in a 100% journal at the end of testing even when they do finish. They just didn’t mark all the lines. If I still gift them the pattern, do they get full credit for completing my pattern? Or just partial?

I once removed the wrong tester, I corrected the mistake by selecting test again, and then gifting the pattern. Did that ding their % tests completed number?

Just looking for clarity so potential testers can know how to succeed fully.

Sure! Those are valid points.

It’s based on the designer marking them as completed, regardless of how many rows they tracked. If you make a mistake, we fix that as well so there’s no harm there.

Thank you!

So pending completion doesn’t count against you?

No - it shouldn’t!

Can I mark multiple of your answers as the solution?

FYI- thank you for your very thorough kind replies. I was just asking a slightly different question.
