How to Find Markets - 3 Ways!

Heyyy guys! I’ve had quite a few people ask me how I find my markets, so I decided to make a post about it! I’ve did 7 markets in 2025, and all of them are found one of 3 ways.

Way #1
Can’t recommend this one enough: Facebook groups. Now, I KNOW not everyone has Facebook (I didn’t until December) so there are 2 other options don’t worry.
The best groups are ones that are specific to your area code (eg, California has 209, 213, 310, 415, 916, ect)
To find those groups, search ‘your area code, vendor events’, ‘your area code, vendor talk’, things like that. These groups typically have thousands of members, and multiple posts a day. My area code group is how I’ve found the 3 markets I’ve applied to in 2026 so far.
Besides the area code groups, you can find vendor/event groups in your area by using these search terms: (your state/county/area) craft show, vendor market, vendor event, craft fair, craft market, ect. These are the terms that have worked well for me! Facebook is a great source, and you can join groups even with a private account like mine (great to have, especially if you’re younger). Facebook helped me find my last 2 markets of 2025!

Way #2
Good ole Google (or Safari, ect). Almost everyone has access to this source! With this one, you’ll want to use the same search terms I gave you for Facebook. Use your location, then add those terms. However, with google I recommend adding the year (2026 in this case) to help narrow down results. You don’t want to get excited about an event and then realize it’s from 2023 :sob:.
Now, Google is a little easier to use, but not as many results will come up. Things posted on social media that don’t have a website might not come up in your search results. But, google is how I found 4 out of 7 of my markets, so it’s still a good contender!

Way #3
This one is a little more abstract: word of mouth. This one really only works if you’ve done markets before. Ask the event coordinator if they have an email list for future markets, talk to your vendor neighbors about how they find their events/what ones they’re planning to do next! (This is called networking, and it’s how I found out about the area code group I joined!) This is how I was invited to one of my biggest markets of the year!

I hope that at least one of these ways is accessable to you! Fellow vendors, feel free to tell me what I missed. Finding markets is honestly one of the hardest parts of being a small business reliant on in person events, and I hope this post will help with that struggle.

thanks for this! I haven’t done any markets since the one at my old school, so this is helpful

Wow thanks for this! My recommendation kinda goes along with word of mouth but I feel like people don’t know! I love going to markets not as a vendor (especially if they are a once a month thing) you can get a good lay of the land ie. if there are people selling the same thing as you or the market doesn’t seem to get much traction or maybe even the area isn’t the greatest! I like doing this when I can so I can avoid bad situations! It’s always good to see what your getting into!

Definitely agree. That big one I was invited to? I’d gone there as a customer for the past 3 years already, and wanted to try it!

It’s totally ok to not bulk make items. I don’t for the most part. I actually find it better to have more unique items than 10 of the same thing

Good ideas, but I want to put a warning out there, especially if you go through Facebook… triple check that you’re giving your contact information and payment to the right people. There are a lot of scammers out there.

My preference is to find the contact information for whatever organization is hosting the craft fair via their public website contact page and get the event coordinator contact info that way.

This helps so much, I really want to do a market and have no idea where to start

I was thinking of doing a car boot sale in the summer just for crochet (I’ve done this before but it was mainly old clothes/ books that I sold) but nothing really sells for more than £5 and some of the things I make are worth more than that

If you know nothing will sell for more than that, I’d either only bring stuff that’s £5 or less, or just don’t go. Don’t undersell things!
