Hey everyone! I’m new to ribblr and would like to meet some people, Also I’m thinking of making a gc just like for making patterns and stuff, I definitely need it! Anyways I should introduce myself, I won’t mention my name but I have been crocheting for a year now, my cousin taught me how to crochet and have never made my own pattern. If there’s anyone out there, please give me some tips on how to make a pattern. Thank you!

Well crochetbygenna is a crochet YouTuber and I believe she has a video on how to write your own patterns. Hope this helps!

I write patterns and the process I follow is this:
- Make a sketch
- Break down that sketch into shapes
- Start crocheting while writing down each row as I go.
And that’s really it, I play about with different shapes and I do have to frog sometimes but it’s still fun and also it’s helpful to be good at math so you can have an accurate stitch count.

Hiiyaaa welcome to Ribblr!! Welcome to our crafting/stitching community 
The way I began creating patterns was honestly all from observation - I focused on reading patterns from various designers, e.g. patterns by ArielC, craftycellist, other desingers (they are here on ribblr, but I didn’t want to tag them here) and on youtube lilthings, chubbiesbyash, MonuaDIY, mikimeloco, ect… They are all very skilled pattern writers, and i learned loads from them!

i’d suggest you check out the Testing zone ! it would be a good idea to test for a few people to understand the testing process and how ribblr patterns are typically formatted.

Hi, welcome to ribblr, to make a pattern, you have to understand how it works and how increases make it bigger and mostly it’s trial and error, I recommend trying different patterns using different skills so you can understand how to write it clearly and you will gradually know more skills like stitches or colour changing, which will help you make more complex patterns.
