Calling all writers,

I need help in writing a definition essay.

This is what I have so far: “Sustaining Strength That Only Comes From God

What is strength? It is something that is needed when you are away from home for a long time. It is something that is needed for a long day of work. Strength is something that is needed to make a meal for your family after a hard day of work. Where does strength come from? About 69% of the U.S. population claims that coffee gives them the “strength” to carry on through the day. But, where does true strength come from? True strength does not come from inside of you. That means that strength comes from somewhere else. It means that true strength comes from God.

Strength is the object that God gives to His children to help them make it through the challenging trials that He allows in their lives. It is what God gives to aid us in dealing with the difficult co-worker or neighbor. Strength is what He gives in order to assist us in many other ways, like making it through a long week of revival meetings or through the long time away from home”

The word count for this essay needs to be at least 400 words and the above has 187 words. So, I need 213 words more to finish.

tip: try to avoid I or you s in essays!!
one thing that might help extend that word count is expanding upon the effect His strength has for us! maybe put some verses in there!
”But, where does true strength come from?”→”But where does true strength come from?”

“to carry on through the day.”→”to carry on throughout the day.”

Just a note: use one or at the most two! You don’t want it to be an overload!

I would make a mini outline. For example you could do:

Intro paragraph

1st paragraph— define ‘strength’

2nd— why people need it

3rd— how does God give people strength

Conclusion paragraph (don’t add new info here btw, just restate the info from the body paragraphs)

That way you can have more structure in your paper instead of random ideas thrown together

your essay is rly straightforward. try to expand on what ur saying! also it is a little repetitive, i find that searching up synonyms even for the simplest words helps to make your writing look and sound much more professional.

the part where u talk on the coffee is rly sudden if u tied that in a little bit that would lengthen your word count and help it flow through better. also u ask, ‘what is strength?’ at the beginning and not even after the end of the paragraph u ask, ‘where does strength come from?’ so again, expanding more and spending time to talk about what you’re saying and why it matters would extend ur word count and help it feel like a full essay.

maybe talk about different kinds of strength. and make it clear that it is spiritual strength that comes excusively from God.

Thanks for the verse suggestions. I was thinking about putting Isaiah 26:4 in the essay somewhere, but I am not sure where yet.

Thank you for the outline suggestion. I will be formulating a better outline based off of this.
