I NEED HELP with Sinker/big safety eyes

Hey guys I really really need help with some safety eyes I bought. What I noticed about sinker eyes is that they usually have the same washers as normal safety eyes but just bigger, but these have those super annoying round ones. I already put one in so I have to put the other one in.

The eyes have three ridges and I only got past one, was I supposed to go thru all three or just one? :sob:

Here are some additional photos:

And also the washer that I put on the eye to test broke…and I’ve had issues with the eyes falling out before, so either I didn’t put them in right or the washers broke.

I would really appreciate help, tysm!!

This is how I win the sinker eye battle:

  1. Get my mom (or dad) because no way I’m doing this myself
  2. Get a hammer and socket that fits tight around the eye ā€˜stem’ (I believe that is what it is called)
  3. Place the eye in the right place, put the back on and slam with that hammer until the back is a few (1 at least, usually 2) clicks secured
  4. Celebrate because this was a BATTLE

I have two of these and they work for normal safety eyes but not these ones, which is why I searched for someone who maybe had the same kind because i’ve never seen washers like this. They are like dome-shaped and the tool doesn’t work for them. ty for your help tho!!

Oh, interesting… I have those same stupid dome-shaped washers, and my tool worked fine…

Anyways, sorry I couldn’t be more of a help!:slightly_smiling_face:

I use this tool to help set my sinker eyes. It is really easy to use. It’s called ā€œGEOCCI Safety Eye Tool Large Size Safety Eye Install Tool for Amigurumi Crochet & Stuffed 5-45mm Animal Eyes Making Supplies Tool It is More Helpful for Large Special Safety Eyes(1PCS)ā€ on amazon.

Maybe if it has trouble staying on then you can put it on as far as you can then melt the black pieces (?) Down with a lighter so it stays on? Sorry if this isn’t helpful, i dont really now how to help:joy:

ooh! tysm i’ve never seen these before! how much are they?

You should never melt the backs. It changes the structure and makes the eyes more brittle.

When i melt the black stubs down a little and flatten it then it helps it stay on. At least for me. But you have to be careful because if you melt it too much it makes it weak and can fall of if handled roughly.
