Is there only one kind of Feather Stitch?

A friend of mine asked if could help her learn how to do a Feather Stitch. A pattern she was using for a blanket said to use a feather stitch, but didn’t explain anywhere what that was.
I looked it up online, and figured out how to do one, but I didn’t know if there were variations that I should be aware of (kinda like bobble stitches can have 3-5 DC stitches in it, maybe even 6 depending on the pattern).
I just don’t want to say “this is the way” when there is more than one way.

This is the way I found how to do it

It looks like a pretty cool stitch but I haven’t heard of it before. I might have to try it out.

Well, I just spent over an hour helping her get the first 4 rows done on an example swatch. She is a lovely older lady whose hearing is more limited than mine, and she doesn’t know sign language. I kept wanting to sign to her what to do next. At least I had written down instructions so she could have a reference. I was able to just point to the next step to get my point across. I don’t think that it would’ve gone over well if I also tried to teach her any variations to the stitch; it would’ve confused her. Sometimes simple, straightforward directions are the best.

Totally fine. A random

can be interesting sometimes. ;)

I like it too. It gives very good coverage because the stitches reach down into previous rows. Great for a warm blanket..
