Just a couple updates + question?

Hey :D

Thought I might do a quick update and stuff of some stuff I’d like to share I’ve been thinking about recently, especially since it’s been quite long since I last made a real topic.

So uh.. not sure how to start this off, but I’ve got several patterns that are basically ready for testing. But I just never feel like makin’ a tester call about.. and I’ve even been wanting to get ’em out during summer, but now that it’s coming to an end.. well, I really gotta get to it soon-

I’m also trying to use up my yarn and stuff, especially normal chenille since those skeins are expensive, and I’ve been starting to use other types of yarn that are more affordable. That’s nice. random flex - I can’t remember last time I bought yarn. Heh

My cat Aston, who some might be familiar with, will need to go through a TECA surgery (google it). And he’ll become half deaf. And if anybody have had a similar experience, wether a pet needed to do the same surgery, have a half deaf pet or just have some overall tips for taking care of a pet going through a tough time, feel free to let me know! I’m open to it all.

Donations would also be appreciated, but I’ll not be asking for them since I’m just a stranger on the internet. And we all know we shouldn’t trust those.

Also, big plans for my shop and stuff in future:

I’m planning on revamping my shop, and by that I mean to change name, change logo, do a full read through of all my patterns, update intros, add proper measurements, etc.. so that’s quite a big deal. This is mostly because of the fact I never really liked the name DuckyCreations, especially since it was just something I made up in the moment, and I’ve also felt for quite some time now that my patterns would really do with some refining.

But, well, I’m sure you see I’ve promised some sort of mysterious question in title

Well, it’s simply:

Should I make my Chonky Birds free?

It’s not like I make money out of them, and they are just a passion project of mine. And especially since I keep them free the very first day after release.. and they’re not even that different from each other, as one quite clearly can see just looking at the fat things. That’s mainly the reason why I’m even asking.

Though, just making them free out of nowhere would.. be slightly rude towards those who already paid for them?

So uh. Here ya go, the holy poll!~

  • Yes, make ’em free!
  • Nah, keep them paid.

Well, that’s kinda it. Excuse if the post feels slightly rushed, but I didn’t feel like doing any extra work here.. and expect some more posts from me, about Aston (if you guys would like that, please let me know), some projects I might do updates on, and tester calls.

Thanks for reading my long post :D

if anybody want to move this post to another space, or add/remove tags, please do that as I know I suck at that

i’m so sorry to hear about your cat! i hope the surgery goes well. and i can’t wait to see your new patterns + shop look! as for your chonky bird patterns, maybe you could make each individual one free and have a paid bundle with all of them?

Oh no! I’m sorry about your cat, that’s really rough! I hope they aren’t in too much pain. I’m excited to see your new shop look, and I hope you have good luck with redoing patterns and testing! I believe quite a few people on ribblr have been changing there paid patterns to free, or vice versa, and I don’t think anyone would mind either way, since you already keep them free for the first day?

I hope the surgery goes smoothly!! :hugs:

For the chunky birds maybe you can do a bundle at a lower price since they are similar but you can still sell them while giving people a deal if that makes sense…? :slightly_smiling_face:

im so sorry about aston  :people_hugging:
Excited to see the shop look though! I think if you dont think you are making any profit you should make them free but in the end it’s your choice!

I hope Aston’s surgery goes well and he feels better! offers of internet hugs if wanted
Cats typically adjust fairly well to loss of hearing, but you can help by making extra sure not to startle them by taking heavier steps near them (so he can feel the vibrations in the floor) or flicking the light (so he can see you coming in)

I’m so sorry to hear about Aston :( I’m excited to see your new shop look that actually sounds really fun to do btw if you remove a pattern (to edit photos and descriptions etc) and republish it do the people who got the pattern previously still have it?? And I think you should keep the ducks paid because I don’t see that shape of ducks very often (it’s usually just a cylinder with eyes and feet) I would, instead of doing separate ones and a bundle, do a 2-in-1 pattern (you can see other free 2-in-1 patterns to see how it’s formatted) but it’s still paid!

Im so sorry about your cat, that’s super hard to go through. My dog Nellie had to have cancer removed twice earlier this year. My heart goes out to you. I hope the surgery is successful. You can let me know how everything goes with the lil guy
