Just a rant

Guess who posted their own opinion on threads (insta twitter) and is getting told that I’m just upset for not being picked for tester calls and “I’m being rude”!

Guess who is also having post written about them and is basically being told that you don’t know how to read tester calls!

Any guesses? Me! (Please don’t start drama here, I just wanted to talk about how mean some of them are and hate that I shared my own opinion)

Thank you! I don’t to be known as a drama person, get hate, not receive business and end up on crochet drama YouTube.

What did you say? I’m just curious

I had noticed that a lot of the crochet pattern designers use the same 5 people and when they pick others they act unbiased but they’re actually biased based on who they chose. These designers also advertise a pattern test call but still only pick those same five people. They use pattern test calls as an easy way to gain followers. There were people who agreed with me. But people with 10k + followers started to say that I was just upset for not being picked. I may have called out the truth for some but I don’t know.

What you’re saying makes sense to me! I agree

To be fair, I’ll usually gravitate towards people who I already know are great testers, rather than take a gamble. However, I do accept new people if those reliable people don’t apply.

Tbh, Instagram testing is crazy. If you have less than 50 followers, you have NO chance to be picked. It’s kinda unfair, I agree, but luckily, Ribblr has a bit better system. Even tho it’s up to the designer, to who they choose, but they can see how many patterns they completed, etc. Tbf, I also would rather take a person with 25+ test posts and a bit more followers than a person who just started posting, but that’s just my opinion coming from someone, who tried testing on IG and didn’t stand a chance.

Well, we all need to realize that this craft has been passed down to us through many many generations all over the planet, and was passed on, in general, for free.

So, people were investing in people face to face and giving up their TIME!

People nowadays rather throw money at someone than spend time to help someone. Nowadays we are all “ connected” via social media but the rate of loneliness is skyrocketing. Nowadays, people trying to charge everyone for just about anything.

We’ve made all of our interactions with others transactional ( Being transactional means there is an expectation that if one gives, one will receive. A transactional person will keep watch or score of give and take.)

THEREFORE, no one wants to give anything to anyone unless it’s benefits them. At its core, it denies our humanity, ( we are leeches).

Think about that next time a newbie wants help or an opportunity. Someone gave YOU an opportunity, you have a duty obligation to share it forward.

That is my two cents. And these selfish people need to be called out in their behavior. Too many people being a bull in a China shop totally clueless about how they are breaking people all around them.

I understand that. I was trying to say on threads was people weren’t using pattern test as a pattern advertisement vs an actual advertisement for need of testers

I’m sure you understand that. When it came to you, I knew I was preaching to the choir.

Yet, I think all of us need a reminder that we have this craft because someone taught it, and someone preserved it when it wasn’t popular.

I do agree with @craftycellist, i post tester calls and i gravitate toward those who have more points or who i use frequently! however, thats not a reason to beat yourself up, its never personal towards the crafter, trust me, you doing great, nothing against you at all, might just be a picky designer LOL

I’m sorry, that sucks. I also relate to that, I rarely comment on YouTube but I will leave ONE comment and some random person will be mad at me for having an opinion (literally when I say in my opinion or imo at the end).
