Does anyone else have a problem with the grip sliding off the hook while you use it. Mine sneek their way off. If you dont have the problem, what brand are you using? If you know how to fix it, please share.

yes that happens to me A LOT I think it just happens with rubber hooks. I don’t think there is anyway to solve unfortunately :(

I have this problem with my 6mm clover hook. I just push it back on but have been pondering how to deal with it more permanently. So I use my furls metal streamline one in 6mm instead.

i’ve used hooks with those handles one time…and it drove me nuts, so i stopped lol.
i use nakey hooks (just the straight no rubber or whatever on the handle)
or these hooks one of my friends sent me and i think those handles were made with a clay of some type. they look like this:
(unless i’m working with thick yarn, i don’t even touch the handle tho

I do! My size 6mm is the only hook with the grip but it does slide off when I use it.

I have that issue with mine as well. I resolved that problem with a little super glue. I have used both normal liquid style super glue and E-6000, for each process you’ll want to keep some alcohol on hand.
For the liquidy kind:
- Tape the 2 holes at the bottom of the sleeve closed
- put some super glue into the sleeve
- put some super glue onto the hook
- put hook into sleeve and let it cure. I would do it over night once you’re done or have back up hooks on hand.
- wipe off the part that oozed out the top of the sleeve with a little bit of alcohol on a paper towel, and I mean just a little, you don’t want it sopping wet enough to leak into the sleeve and ruin the glue.
For E-6000 it’s the same process, but since it’s so goopy you don’t need to put any glue into the sleeve because that is like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube, so just put some on the hook and put it back into the sleeve and let it cure over night (24 hours is best though)
I personally find the E-6000 holds on a little better, but if all you have is normal super glue then it will work just the same. I did this for mine last year and haven’t had a single problem since then.

Be careful with gorilla glue tho! It eats away at the silacone

What I do is I completely remove the hook, glue and insert the hook, then put some glue on a toothpick and hammer it into the edge, then finally put glue in any holes around the toothpick. I use this flexible rubber glue.

I’m not sure where you heard that. Silicone is chemically inert, so while gorilla glue will have difficulties sticking to it it won’t “eat” it.

You might be using a little too much force when pulling a loop through, or your yarn could be too thick for your hook. But no I’ve never had that problem before and I just use the generic rubber hooks

It won’t crack Silicone since it won’t stick to it… however that does make me wonder. If the handles are made of TPR (thermoplastic rubber) and not silicone considering E-6000 and your standard cyanoacrylate sticks to them AND gorilla glue will ABSOLUTELY shatter TPR
(I looked my hooks up on Amazon and it says the handle is made of rubber not silicone, so we may be on to something lol. I always assumed Silicone. Tbh I never stopped to wonder why the E-6000 worked on it despite believing it to be silicone in the first place lol)

Yep, that happenes to me as well! It is annoying to have to keep sliding it back on. I’ve been eyeing some resin handled ones on amazon.

I used to have that problem all the time with my first hooks so I bought some that had a wooden handle and a metal hook tip off Amazon (they were super cheap too) you can find them just by searching wood crochet hook on amazon ^^

I have the same problem with my cheap hooks. I bought a Tulip brand one awhile ago that I haven’t had an issue with, so far.
