l GOT A CAT!! YAYAYYAYA

CATTTTTTTTTTT… so cute!!! He’s adorable! I have 3 cats, one is literally trying to eat my keyboard right now  he’s not really succeeding at eating it though…
Tips:
-take it slow, so as not to overwhelm them. As hard as it is not to pick them up and hug them every 5 seconds, just let them get comfortable at their own pace
-Do not leave your crochet plushies lying around!!! My wake up alarm every morning is one of my cats running out of my bedroom with a plushie

That’s sad, i hope he will be very happy in his new family <3

I would say don’t force them to do anything, don’t hold them by force, it can stress them. If they’re scared, wait for them to come to you instead of running after them. They will feel safe around you if they know you don’t force their boundaries. Speak softly, don’t stare at them but blink, so it’s as if you smile at them. If they bring a mouse, I would not get upset at them because it means they see you as a family and they are trying to feed you. If they do something forbidden, be firm to say no, but avoid screaming at them. They don’t understand our language so most the times they don’t know the logic behind the rules, you can’t explain it like with a kid, so sometimes if you get angry they’ll be scared and confused.

PRETTY KlTTY I LOVE HIM SO MUCH! My cousins have a cat named whiskers that’s a black cat rescue also (he bites a lot) I suggest to be close to him and if he seems grouchy just let him be. Also yarn is a really good cat toy!!!

He is so cute! I’m glad that he is still alive and well after almost dying.
For building up trust: let the cat come to you

Yarn is actually really bad for them because it can be a choking hazard it can also get stuck in there intestines and kill them

(Not trying to sound rude)

hES JUST GOOBAB I LOVE KITTYYYY (sorry im not a cat owner so i cant provide any sound advice but i love cats :broken_heart:)

i think the only thing i can really say is, dont get one of those automatic litterboxes with the closing door especielly if its a knock off, theyve (allegedly) been harming cats and can risk the kitty’s life if it gets caught in the door being shut.

im not sure if theyre still around today cause it was a huge problem on amazon before, and ive heard not so pretty stories from past owners that used them.

Use the fist method!! Hold out your fist, they recognize it as a cat head shape, and rub on it

Super cute! Im sure over time he’ll gain your trust. We have a stray that was afraid of us and he eventually gain our trust and now we can pet him and he even runs up to us at times. You just have to give him time and some space.

I’ve had a cat for over 10 years now and the most important thing i’ve learned is to listen to your cats body language. It is important to do this because that is how they communicate to you! You can do a little research to learn what body language is good vs bad so you can better understand them (you dont ABSOLUTELY have to do this to understand them though). Giving him treats is also another way to build up trust. Give him some time he’ll adjust to your family, moving to a new home is a scary thing for a cat.

How beautiful! I love black cats, I had one as a kid. My only advice is to just give him some space and let him come to you, don’t force any affection. He’ll warm up eventually :slightly_smiling_face: and he’ll figure out all the important spots of your house pretty quick. So happy he has a good home now! Much love to you!

I used to have a cat I rescued and if u stick your finger out slowly they will normally smell it and brush up against u and just giving them a good bit of attention but also space to

Aston is gorgeous. I had a rescue that was also ā€˜shy.’ The rescue recommended putting worn socks in a box just big enough for him to lay down so he got used to our smells. It worked great. I’ve done it with every one of my cats. Best of luck to all of you.
