l GOT A CAT!! YAYAYYAYA

He’s so cute!! I’ve had two of mine for almost 10 years now, if he likes food id recommend giving him treats as positive enforcement to build trust, idk how reliable this is but it worked in a way with mine

Let him down if he seems wiggley and surprisingly cats DRINK A LOT OF WATER. As for him having trust issues… I would have those churu slurppie thingamajigs with your dad so he could like smell it and come for it?? Maybe idk

Ok, so to show him where the litter box is, you have to guide him there, pretend ur going to the bath room in tue box, and place him in there a few times. Thats how i taught my black kitty. Good luck!

Hey, congrats on your new Yarn Stash Guardian! My #1 tip for building trust with a cat is to give it time. like, twice to three times what you think they need. they’re probably a little traumatized/ may still be grieving their old owner. Since most cats refuse to see a therapist, you gotta let them decide when they’re ready to bond with you. I highly recommend doing some research on cat behavior, that will make it easier to tell wether they’re asking for space or pets:black_cat:

Tysm y’all for the tips!

I didn’t get any sleep tonight though.. it’s like 4 am and he won’t stop yelling… I kinda think he just want a friend, so I think I need to convince my parents lol.
I will also go to a pet shop tomorrow, as everything was closed yesterday when we picked little Aston home, so what should I get other than the necessaries I don’t already have?

You shouldn’t get them any expensive cat beds. They will just sleep where they wanna :sob:

I love cats and I love yarn. Cats also love yarn…sometimes too much. I had to take my cat to the vets because he pulled a project out of my purse and ate about 18 inches of yarn while I was outside prepping to go to Kissimmee. That was an expensive vet visit. I now have all my yarn put away securely, that’s my biggest tip. Also your cat is sooooo adorable! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

An enclosed sleeping area can help with nervous cats. Toys as well. They come around eventually. Just patience and perseverance. Food that they like. My cats like the Tesco’s own cat milk. But as a rule of thumb cats can’t tolerate lactose. So if not cats milk lactose free milk.

Also one reason why string is bad for a cat is when ingested if not removed by a vet it can tie up a pets intestines and be lethal. Hide your yarn stash from kitties

Aww he’s sooo adorable :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :black_cat: If he’s scared of smth maybe try catnip. Cats often go out of their comfort zone when there’s catnip. Also it might take time but I’m sure he’ll be happy and calm when he first know that you and your family will him the best:heart:

Did you name him ?

His name was Aston already at the shelter, and I thought it fits him and is quite unique, so we kept the name :>

I’m glad he was saved and now in a better home. I’m sure he’ll miss his owner but now he can continue his life with more love and care! Congrats on your new void!

Also, don’t be afraid if you see something staring at you in the dark, it’s just him

My void says meow (hi) :grinning_cat:
