Languages on Ribblr

So I recently realized JUST how many different places people on Ribblr are from, so it made me wonder how many languages are spoken. I’ll start. I speak English, German, A good amount of French and Yiddish, am learning Russian and Hebrew. But I mostly just KNOW know, like am fluent in - English and German

ooh, i love meeting other people who study languages!! I’m a native English speaker and i studied french as my major at university. i used to be at an upper B2 level on the CEFR scale but haven’t really studied in a while so I’m more around B1. I’m now studying german because my husband’s mother and her family are originally from Germany. i was really excited because i got to visit them over Christmas and it was my first time out of the country! I’ve studied a few more languages in the past, but wouldn’t consider myself proficient in any of them, but i studied Latin (elementary school), Spanish (middle to high school), Chinese (middle school), Italian (university), and Arabic (university). my husband speaks german (native), English, Japanese, and knows latin and ancient greek. he’s working on his french now and i love getting to help him!

sorry for yapping so much haha, but learning languages is one of my special interests!!

I’m fluent in English and know basic Spanish. If I mind me asking do you have any tips for learning a language? Because whenever I learn a language I feel that even when I practice everyday it just doesn’t seem to want to stick in my mind , like I don’t forget but yeah idk :P

mostly, even if you aren’t doing an exercise requiring speaking, say the words to yourself if you can, and also try to find real situations where you need to use the language, because even though you feel clumsy and awkward, it helps learn and helps push your mind to be better

Ummm… I wish I had tips . Learning languages is just easy for me, and my brain has this feature where it learns languages through exposure… like a bebe! And I’m not saying this to brag, I just thought it was, yk, fun fact. lol. I would say that it might help to expose yourself to media in that language. May I ask how you are learning it as different ways of learning a language can definitely vary the effectiveness of results and can explain fluctuations in language learning abilities? :]
