Lazy cat tricks?

Yeah. My cat ran and hid for almost a year (she had a rough start to life) and is finally coming out of her shell. Just give them time

My girl was like that for 5 of the 12 years she’s been with us! Sometimes they just had a really rough life and just need love and their own space :pink_heart:

Oh true, depends on the cat and cap size lol. I meant the big ones from juice bottles, but indeed some cats will try to eat even those XD

Don’t give up trying find your cat’s “thing”!
One of mine loves the laser pointer and I always land the dot on many of her actual toys so
she gets to pounce something. Another cat will look on and at my hand like…I can see the man behind the curtain, you’re not fooling me!
Some cats like cat nip, some don’t or it can also be finding the right one. I found a cool small kit for easy growing cat grass online. Mine tend to only really care about the silvervine powder the older they get. And they love, From the Field spray.
I have places I hang some of their wand toys so they can “self play” with them if I’m in the middle of something. You can make so many things with simple things at home. Tear up strips of a T-shirt you no longer wear, tie it to a plastic hanger in strings or braid a few and hang it from a door knob and show it to your cat so they know it’s for them.
Also, you can make some simple, fast toys. I like to crochet a ball with little bobble stitches all over it using a cotton thread yarn for good grip texture, and a small amount of stuffing. Again, use what you have like yarn snippets from projects or even T-shirt strips to stuff small toys. The only bells I put inside are heavy duty jingle bells too large for swallowing. And usually just stuffing and refresh with spray sometimes. I make a loop on one end and sometimes hang those also.
Rotate toys so they don’t get bored. But once you find a favorite, make sure you have a spare.
Read out loud to your cat using different voices, like you would with a child. Mine love story time. And last but not least…I started by dancing in front of them but then eventually picking each one up for a few minutes and just doing a small bounce step singing made up words. Music is not necessary.
Hope something helps.

Yes, I’ve heard this too. So that’s not the main toy I’ve used.
My cats love these toys:

Plus, most cat food is heavy in the carbs. Cats are carnivores. I feed my cats cat food that has a high level of animal protein- IAMS. Plus I give the sardines/mackerel/tuna/salmon in cans.

Benefits of high protein:
More playful
Less fur shedding
Shinier fur
Brighter eyes
Better ability to fight off infection
They get taurine and arginine which cats REQURE ( cats need more protein than dogs!)
Less obsessive eating ( protein makes them feel full and for longer periods of time)
