Hellooo guys! So you have probably seen my cat Aston, and we’ve realized he’s
Lazy
So any tips to make him a lil bit more active, and make life more interesting to him, as we live in an apartment, he can’t get out atm (we will be getting a net for the balcony)
I do have some catnip, but it’s a lil bit hard when it’s catnip, not a spray, when adding to toys and stuff + we don’t have that many toys too. I’ll be considering getting more though. Might also try to make him comfortable with a harness so I can take him out for some walks hehe :>
Also, here’s a goofy pic I took of him today, cuz why not heheheh
Just look at his snoozing face
Any tips would be appreciated!

Laser pointers
Those little fishing rod toys
Things for him to scratch on
Maybe a tunnel or maze
Also you can get toys with catnip already integrated into them.

My aunts cat is also quite lazy but sometimes she’ll enjoy playing if you’re using a really good toy, so try to establish his fav toy. I love the walking idea as well, it’s good for cats to get outside every once in a while

I trained my dog how to jump up on things (like a wall or smth or just in the air). I used the command they use in the army “hup” like up but with an h. It was easy because 1. It’s easy to train and 2. My dog is a border collie and jumps a lot (cats jump too). What I did is I held a treat and she could only get it if she jumped to my hand. I also but a treat on a high wall and said hup so she jumped on the wall to get the treat. Now she does it with no treat and we even do obstical courses on walls we walk by where she jumps up on a ledge, then jumps over gaps in the ledge and continues running. It depends on if ur cat is lazy or active tho.
Edit: just read the whole post. (I thought you meant tricks you can teach ur cat that’s easy for them to learn lol) U can probably teach him to jump in the air, but that wont really help get him active. U could get a kitty castle or smth like that (but they are so expensive). Or u could make one out of cardboard. ( he WILL chomp on the cardboard tho)

Cat wands and laser pointers work great. My cat is lazy and fat and he loves those. He also loves little cat toys that he can chase around and carry in his mouth

Open windows if possible, with one of the screens. My cats are also crazy lazy but the second the window is open (especially the one by the bird feeder) they are up on the window cill and making chirping noises.

Depending on how long youve had him, and how old he is, he may need some time to get comfortable and used to being with you. Vet check ups to rule out any underlying health issues are important too. But most importantly remember that every cat (just like people) are different and “lazy” could just be his personality.

Cats’ favorite toy ever: cardboard.
Give him a cardboard box and he’ll be happy for days.
Also idk if you already have a scratch post, but my cat is a big lazy boy too and the scratching post is the only toy he likes. We have a very basic one with a ball attached and he plays alone for hours
Not the exact model, but this kind of post
Also, tape balls. Just keep balling a piece of tape until it’s big enough he can’t eat it (and secure it with some well-placed pieces to hold the ends tight). My girl loves tape balls, but they have to be big otherwise they eats them :v

Oh and to add to the list, cats really like cheap toys or trash lmao. Throw them a bottle cap or the plastic ring attached to the bottle cap, or a hair tie, a paper straw, they play like it’s the best thing ever. Dare buy them a nice toy and they’ll act disgusted lmao

u can crochet one with acrylic and add catnip to stuffing?

I wouldn’t recommend laser pointers because they can make your cat feel like he’s chasing something that he can’t catch. One thing that you can do is turn it off when he puts his paw on it bc that would make him feel accomplished.
But I would defo recommend catnip spray. It does wonders.

Also unrelated but I’d recommend crocheting him a blanket. I made one when I first got Vanilla and she loves it. I put it in a hamper that I got from my graduation. Here’s a pic (excuse the ugly fireplace. We tried to paint it but then realized it’s a bit ugly but my mum’s gonna get the paint removed)

Probably don’t use bottle caps because it’s a chocking hazard but I agree cats love to play with trash
