Market insurance questions

Hello again peoples!

I recently applied to a craft fair then followed up with them in an email about the status of my application. They said they were reviewing applications then asked if I had a Certificate of insurance. I had no idea what they were talking about until I looked it up. Any suggestions of insurance company’s I could try?

A certificate of insurance for a craft fair? Is it indoors? I’ve never heard of that. My assumption is that it’s similar to businesses that rent space. They need a certificate from their insurance company naming the landlord as a beneficiary in the event of claim. That seems a bit extreme for a short term craft fair.

Yes, Market Stall Insurance is the norm now for many markets.

If you just search “Market Stall Insurance” in your state/country, you’ll find quite a few.

Policies will vary in price and what can be claimed.

I think market organizers decided that, due to increasing insurance costs, they’d make the stall holders pay for their own insurance instead.

As an example, if you attend an outdoor market and a big wind picks up your tent and hurls it into other stall holder’s tents, stock and people, or similar, you will be covered financially for any damages that occur as a result of this. Check to see if your tent, stock and medical care is also covered or if it’s just for others.

You have to make sure to read what is covered and what isn’t.

You can get insurance for just one event or for an entire year. It really depends on how often you plan to attend markets.
