Market Setup Thoughts

Hello everybody! So I’ve been crocheting for around 3 years but have never done a real market before- did a small one for like an hour at my school and made 300 dollars, but I was wondering if my set up looks good? Also if you have any ideas of how to maximize the space to display my plushies and any other popular things I should make to bring.Oh and also how much I should price things at.

I also plan on bringing some granny square bags I’ve been working on and hanging them from the top. Any help would be appreciated as I’m trying to maximize my collection for the market.

I also have some big items like Super Mario and a peacock but I don’t know if people would be willing to spend 60 bucks on those at a market! Thanks so much:heart:

I think you should definitely bring your larger items. Even if people don’t want to pay $60, it’s good to have some ‘showstopper’ pieces that interest/impress potential customers (most of my sales are from people who come to look at my dragons, then buy a smaller keychain/plush)

I think your crochet and setup look amazing though! :two_hearts:

I am changing my setup for my next market.
So picture a whimsical tent. Here’s the props
2 6ft tables and some crates to stand on the ground for wearables and other goodies.
On the table tops I had my hubby make me some crates in three sizes which I can put fairy lights inside to highlight plushies. I also have a three tiered wooden display for things like smaller plushies. I also have some square grid pieces for snugglers and hairbows. I’ll see how this goes this next weekend. If I had photos I’d post but I don’t. I can certianly take some pics next weekend and share to give inspo. I’ve been doing markets for 15 yrs and have made all my displays except the grid walls so I’m more then happy to share. I am trying a new sign out as well that I’m repurposing from an old sign. I just don’t want to buy another banner only to not use it.
Market inventory
Pocket sized plushies seem popular, fruit animals , Dino’s, turtles, whales, dragons. So many things I could list.
Start out small with your displays if your on a tight budget and build on it. Play with heights and don’t clutter your table to much.
Have signs with prices on them or tag your stock either or both work nicely. I got some smaller chalk board signs on Amazon and some chalk markers that work awesome.

Please know pricing is HIGHLY subjective and there are a multitude of factors that determine pricing. Its not just 3x3x3 or how much you think you are owed for your hourly rate etc. A major factor with IN PERSON MARKETS are the demographs of the area. If its a poorer area and people are struggling to keep food in their kids bellies, most will not be able to afford much if anything. On the flip side of this, if you are vending in an affluent area, your odds of selling the biggers ticket items are higher. Now, this is NOT to say that someone from out of town might not come in and buy it either. Always take everything you have to sell if its for sale (sometimes we hold on to things for gifts or special customer) but the big ticket items or just large in size ones draw people in. If you dont have the best set up yet, it’ll grab their attention from afar. This is a great resource if you are serious about pricing your items accordingly

Aww yes pricing seems to be something so many have options on. I use my gut on these because as you said demographics are a thing. I’m gonna check out this link. :sparkling_heart:
