Hello everyone, I hope everyone is having an amazing day!
I would say I’m pretty new to this platform, and I’m not very used to anyone actually answering my calls for help. If someone replies, I cannot thank you enough, everyone’s insight is helpful.
I was wondering HOW IN THE WORLDY WORLD DO I SET UP A MARKET. I know some recommendations for like selling this stuff but where do you find chances for a market? Do I need a permit or something? How do people pay card to me? SOMEONE HELPPPPPPPPPP
But anyways that’s it! Everyone have a good rest of your day!
I usually google crafters market and then my area. I am sorry I’m not very experienced.
To find a market you can look up “open application markets near me” and it depends which market you’re in for whether or not you need a permit. For card, you can get square, stripe, venmo, stuff like that. I hope this helps and good luck finding a market!
I usually Google craft markets near me, then look for open applications. I hope that helps!!
If you have a farmers market in your area that would work great ( I am by no means an expert I’m currently prepping for my 1st market in October) and at least in my area i don’t need a permit and if you do a farmers market you surely wouldn’t need 1 (i would think but remember I’m not an expert)
Thank you everyone for your responses! I’ve been reading all of the messages and all of your insight is very helpful!
If you would like to support me, visit my ko-fi (I don’t have a stripe account so I can’t sell anything on ribblr) and here is the link! https://ko-fi.com/sophiacrochets
Thank you everyone!
On top of what everyone else has put…
Another thing to think about is if you need to have something called “vendor’s insurance”.. I know it’s a thing here in Florida…check the applications really good… Read all the dine print… If you don’t understand something ask someone…now mind you, some places don’t allow under 18 to sign up. That’s when the parents can help.. also, make sure you have money set aside for vending fees such as space rental.. that’s how the venues make Thier money…
You might also want to set up your booth in your back yard and take a ton of pictures.. some venues want to see what your setup is going to be like before approving you..the plus side of the pictures is so you have a reference to follow when setting up. Make sure you have decent displays , tables, table cloths, signage, battery operated lighting in case it’s a night market.
This is all stuff I deal with here in Florida…I have been vending for about 25 years now.. pick your events. Just don’t pick the first one you see..do your research first…a good rule of thumb is to go with esblished events of after 5 years annual. That’s about when the events have finally worked out all the hiccups of growth… After you get like 5-6 under your belt, you will start to see a pattern/trend of when your best selling dates and events are.. I also found some farmers markets are pretty decent
Another thought, make sure you know when market season is for your area…go to some of the events before vending so you can see how they are run..talk to other vendors while there..that’s where you get the real scoop on things..
Sorry this is a read but … You asked! Lol good luck sweetie ![]()
