Hi. I just wanted to vent about something that I saw in my local Five Below today. They were selling quite a few amigurumi knitting kits. However I don’t get why they’re doing this because crafters aren’t their target model. Also teenagers and young adults don’t usually buy stuffed animal knitting kits . It just makes no sense to me. I have seen the same unfortunate thing at my local Barnes and Noble kits with crochet amigurumi kits.
Probably trying to offload some stuff.
Alot of parents will bring their kids to five below to pick out rewards and stuff like that so it could be catering to the crafty parent who’s kid wants that stuffed animal and so they sell the kit so the parent can make it for the kid.
I’ll come in with a different POV. Not everyone can afford the price of Kits from other places. From my understanding, 5 Below is $5 and under, correct? Sometimes people cannot afford to buy better quality kits, so they go to the discount stores, the dollar stores, etc. They cannot afford to drop major money on a hobby that they may not like, so buying cheap from there is a way in without breaking their budget.
And if they already enjoy the hobby, it’s a great way to try something new without going over their already limited budget.
I’ve never shopped at five below but am always pleased to find crafts for sale in places I would never expect to see them
