i am honestly SUPER proud of myself with this piece! My mom was telling me about adding buttons, but i have no clue how to do that just yet 
so ill leave it for next time around

the stitches are loos enough that you can just add buttons and push them through the spaces between stitches. you can youtube how to sew buttons onto knitwear (there are several methods for each type of button)
