I’m so happy to see so many that do more than amigurumi… like I said, I knew of a few, but definitely not this many! Looking forward to seeing more things in the community (please share y’all) and especially those that sew and knit! We really need more of that in the community!
@anon12722758 has some free mini granny square bags that are fun, quick, and easy to make
I’ve started making doilies yesterday and I’m not done with my first one yet, but great news, everyone, I love it and I’ll be making a collection of gothy/halloween doilies for my altars and to fit various rituals/spells/celebrations
You’re not alone! I’ll do ariguimi for a gift every once in a while, but its not my favorite. I prefer to make clothing/accessories
I’d actually love to get started on some wearables! I started with amigurumi because of my kids, but they also want me to make them sweaters. Picture the sweaters Mrs Weasley makes for Christmas(Harry Potter)-that’s the example they gave me. Does anyone have any recommendations for a sweater that’s simple and a good fit for a beginner? I’d really appreciate it!
Do it! You won’t regret it! I made my son a knit vest as his Weasley sweater when he was younger…
But for Crochet sweater available here
I tested Sydney Sweater by @StreatbeeCrafts for my daughter… it’s made in pieces and seamed, but it is adorable
My biggest piece of advice: DO THE GAUGE SWATCH!!
@anon5108995 has some cute baby sweater but not sure how big they go
And small self-promo I’m working on a cardigan design that I hope to have tested next month
as an amigurumi person myself, i do think that ribblr has a ton of plushie patterns and amigurumi. however, i continue making bags and mesh clothing, so do what suits you! there’s a ton of people on ribblr who focuses on garments! like always, do what you love!
I am currently making a cardigan!!
I started off making Amigurumi but now I’m trying to make things like cardigans ~(that I can wear!), blankets and tote bags. Don’t get me wrong I love to make amigurumi especially round Halloween or Christmas but there are so many other things that can be made too
Oh I never intended this to seem like I needed encouragement… I’ve always done what I want, even if it’s not the “norm” or “trend” (I’m a Gothic Christian, need I say more? ) I was just looking for others that make some of those things and maybe to encourage them to post as a reminder that Ribblr is not just plush/ toys/ ami…
oh i see
Why did you delete your last post? I hope I didn’t offend you, that wasn’t my intent…
oh i accidentally replied to the wrong person lol
I would love to see the crochet divided out so that it is easier to find what you are interested in. I don’t do a lot of garments as I don’t currently have a way of blocking them and I don’t really do a lot of amigurumi. I like hats, bags/purses, spa sets and hair goodies. I think if it was broken down into groups like Amigurumi, Garments, Purses/Bags, Other or something like that it would also make it easier to find topics that you want to see and would give more of an even chance for all areas to get the notice that they deserve and that the shops need in order to thrive.
I mostly design garments and accessories myself, and my daughter Kaden designs other bits (just one amigurumi in our whole shop). I do feel as though Ribblr needs less amigurumi patterns but that’s all the rage at the moment.
I can’t really get into the amigurumi stuff… Granted, I do have a Wooble to do, but I’m more interested in making garments and blankets and little charms than I am plushies (for now). I am perfectly content with making bracelet cuffs, mushroom pouch necklaces, blankets, and the likes
BTW, Welcome to the community! @Loveandstitches @themlin @harvestthegarden
Looking forward to seeing you more and maybe share some of your creations
Thank you for the suggestions and tips! Btw, your baby is so adorable! My youngest is 4 but looks like he’s in kindergarten already, he’s a tall little dude. I miss the tiny toddler stages a little. I’m off to research gauge swatching! Also, I wish you lots of luck on your cardigan testing and release! If I feel confident in my skills by then, I’ll drop an application.
Thanks! That was actually last year, she’s 2 now… My oldest was tall too and he talked better than his age so he was constantly mistaken for older… Now he’s almost 14, almost as tall as his dad and tries to act like he’s 18
Gauge is definitely important if the finished size is important… and blocking goes along with gauge…
But honestly once you master the basics and some shaping (increase/ decrease) you can start working on simple construction garments and moving up from that is easy…
I’m always available to answer questions if you have any!
Well you know where I stand lol.
