if ur a beginner u should hone ur skills more before pattern designing. U should try making other peoples patterns so u know how to write a pattern, e.t.c. If ur not a beginner, try to make something a bit more simple to start. Try writing the pattern in ur notebook or something to keep things in order. Hope this helps!

Firstly, if you are new to crochet I recommend practicing all the basics.

The next step would be to familiarise yourself with and practice making the basic shapes used to make amigurumi patterns.

Here’s a great YT video showing you how to make all the basic shapes.

Once you have these basic shapes, it’s just a matter of combining them to make simple amigurumi.

If you want to start with a cat, draw a picture of the cat you want to make. Work out which of these shapes are needed to complete the cat.

For example: You might use the orange oval for a body, the pale blue sphere for the head, the yellow half circle/oval for the legs/arms, the purple cone for the ears and the pink spiral for the tail. Then once you’ve made all of these pieces, sew them together to make your cat. Finish it off by sewing on a nose, eyes and whiskers. :tada:

Thank you so much! I’m going to watch that video and then it’s going to be way easier to make the shapes

If you are a beginner, I would focus on trying different techniques and following other creators patterns! Once you feel comfortable with making basic shapes, you can then create your own patterns.
Once you feel comfortable with this, I would sketch out your pattern idea! This helps to just visualize what you are hoping to create. Then think about what simple shapes there are in the drawing and figure out how to crochet the shapes. This makes it a lot easier to write the pattern!! I think that a floppy cat is a fantastic idea!! If u post a tester call, I would love to be tagged!! :growing_heart: also, if u have any more questions about designing pattern, you can just message me!! :light_blue_heart: good luck with your pattern designing journey!!
