Poetry comp 4!!!

Hewo everyone!!!
This is the fourth ever poetry comp!
I think everyone knows how this works by now, but if not, basically you’re just reading all of the poems and then voting which one your favorite is.
I’m sorry I didn’t post last week, I was down with a bad case of strep, but this week’s prompt was Betrayal.
Last week’s winner was @Kymram210 , and here was their poem if anyone is interested!

A Movie of My Life

“Hey Girl!”

“6-7!”

“Canada?”

I’m just a girl.

“I’m gonna have a mental breakdown.”

I’m trying.

“Breathe. Come on, breathe.”

“I’m sorry that happened.”

“Why does it hurt so bad?”

“It just hurts so bad.”

“All my friends left.”

“Where’d they go?”

“Other schools, but it doesn’t-”

I’m just a girl,

And this me trying.

Trying until I find myself dying.

I’m doing pretty well.

Had a few breakdowns,

But oh well.

Who can tell?

I’m just a girl,

And this me trying.

Making my jokes,

And acting a fool.

If you ask me.

I think it’s pretty cool.

I’m just a girl,

And this is me trying.

This is me crying.

It’s sucking the joy,

Right out of my chest,

Leaving me with no spot to rest,

Hopelessly wandering,

Optimistically trying because,

Hope is my bestie,

And tears are my friend.

Indecisive is everywhere,

But mainly my head.

Plans are all,

Mind over matter.

If you ask me,

Let’s roll with the flow,

Until I shatter.

Which will never happen,

Cause I have a ladder,

An escape plan.

A go-to in mind.

Just let me take,

My sweet, sweet time.

When things go wrong,

Just stroll along.

And think about it all like this.

If your life’s a movie,

Then there’s a happy ending amidst.

And here are this week’s poems, everyone!

#1

Did you know what you were doing
When you walked away that day?
Did you know it would be
The last time I saw your face?
You gave me a hug and said goodbye
Like I was someone who mattered.
But that was never true, was it?

I waited for you.
I waited for a year.
I wondered why you weren’t there.
I started thinking you hated me.
But that was never true, was it?
Because that would mean you cared.

Did you know I cried every night?
Did you know I cursed your name?
Did you know you weren’t the first?
But you were the last.
Because I swore that night
No one else would get to shatter me.
I built a shell around me,
A wall against my fractured heart,
A fortress of broken friendships
And forgotten promises.
I decided I would rather be alone,
Than be left again.
I let you break me.
I gave you the hammer.
I smiled as you swung.
But never again.

Do you even remember me?
Do you still know my name?
Do you think about me late at night
When the dark is filled with memories?
I do.
I remember the laughs, the smiles, the hugs.
I remember the parties, the trouble, the fun.
I remember the stupid jokes and childish games.
I remember the tears, the screams, the silence.
I remember the doubt, the confusion, the blame.
I remember how someone else had to tell me
The things you would never say.
I remember wondering where we went astray.
I remember six years erased in a moment.
I remember the day you said,
“Friends forever, just you and me.”
But that was never true, was it?

#2

Did you know what you were doing?

Did you know what effect it would have?

Of course you didn’t

We were just kids

Did you know how much it would hurt me?

Did you know how much damage you would cause?

Of course you didn’t

It’s still with me, you know

Your words

Your acts

They still eat away at me

Remember that you lied to me

To my parents

Said you never did anything

But you know you did

Do you remember that?

Of course you don’t

But I do

Do you remember me?

No

You just walked past

Not even glancing in my direction

Not seeing me

But I saw you

I felt your betrayal all over again

#3

You’d say to keep your word, but lied.
You’d say “it wasn’t my fault I didn’t remember”
You don’t support me like you say.
You just betray.

You act like a best friend to everyone, but me.
You act like you’re nice, then do the opposite to me.
I feel like you obligate me.
Why do you betray?

I am kind, and do stuff for you.
But you don’t do the same.
I give you gifts for holidays.
But you don’t say thanks.
You. Just. Betray.

You talk about me behind my back.
And still expect gifts.
But whenever I ask for a simple favor,
You just betray.

So I always think;
What did I do?
Is there a rumor?
Are you okay?
Why are you mad?
Am I the problem?
Why can’t you do the same?
But in the end
You just betray.

So this is my message to you,
To tell all your friends.
We are done.
Because you just betray.

#4

You didn’t leave all at once
You slipped away
One lunch table at a time
One ignored text
One “I’m busy” that never ended

You found them
The popular girls
With their loud confidence
And quiet cruelty

They smiled at you
And sharpened their words on me

I stood there
Pretending it didn’t hurt
Pretending I didn’t notice
They way you stopped standing next to me

I tried to stay
I tried to keep us alive
Even when it felt like
I was the only one breathing

You called me a copycat
Like sharing memories
Meant stealing an identity
Like friendship had rules
I never agreed to

You said I just wanted to be like you
But I never wanted your spotlight
Or the way they watched me
Like I was something to judge

I wanted you
The person who knew my secrets
Who laughed with me
Before popularity mattered

They were toxic
But I swallowed it
Because losing myself
Felt easier
Than losing you

Betrayal isn’t always a sudden break
Sometimes it’s slow
Sometimes it’s choosing silence
Instead of defending someone
Who never stopped defending you

You didn’t just leave
You made me feel replaceable
Like I was something
You outgrew

And the worst part
Isn’t that you chose them

It’s that you made me feel guilty
For wanting my best friend back

#5

I was just a child
With innocent eyes
I decided to make friends
With the person sitting next to me
That was you~

You invited me to your friend group
Their innocent eyes all believing
Your rants

You bullied someone else
Made everyone think they’re annoying
Tried to keep a relationship secret
What you didn’t expect was that person would become
Good friends of mine

Then you slipped away from me~
Stopped chatting
Ignored my greetings
You were jealous of what you lost
Due to your own actions

You betrayed me
Ended a friendship over something
I couldn’t control
Because you
Turned fake
~Tried to stop me from my own friendship.

You’d talk to my friend
Chat about everything happily
But as soon as you see me
You turn around and ignore

You know talk with the popular group
Smart, sociable, but attention-seekers inside
You follow rumors which spread,
Pretending to be nice just to get others’ approval.

#6

There once was a time

Comparision would consume my being

When life seemed a ladder impossible to climb

And behind it I could not find any meaning

There once was a point in my living

I didn’t expect life to betray me

I didn’t know my future would be forgiving

There once were days

Whose end never seemed to come

Now I love you in unexpected ways

And into you, I succumb.

#7

I’m doing fine.

“You good?”

I’m doing fine.

“Hey,”

I’m doing fine.

“Are you okay-”

I’m trying not to feel so betrayed!

That no one ever stayed!

Cause I’m stalking in circles,

Feeling some sort of way.

At the end of the day,

Nothing really does change.

Breathe in and out,

And cool the heck down,

Because life is so great.

But they never stay.

Blaming me like what the heck!

Hey!

I’m standing where I’ve been,

4 years now,

Guess it doesn’t matter anyway.

Bawling my eyes out in class,

Cause I’m a hot mess.

Cause you are fine.

Because no one ever wants to hurt me,

But it happens all the time.

I’m pinned down by memories.

I’m held down by hurt.

By the time I finally heal,

It never seems to work.

Trust is a concept,

And honesty is air.

You can stand right very there,

And tell me some words,

That I can’t see.

Could only hear,

But it could just be me.

Are we seeing where things go wrong?

And then you just leave.

Vent my heart out,

Only to see-

Nothing.

But accusations of crazy.

Well you’d feel crazy too,

If you got betrayed half as much as me.

Omg!! This was the hardest choice of them all!!! I had a best friend who moved away (While they didn’t betray me) it still really hurt to see them go so I really relate! Number 1 and 4 were my favorites!!

It’s totally ok, I understand!

Why mine too?!?!?

Yes, I feel like if I voted, I would have a lot of trouble picking a favorite for this week, lol

Ty!

Just basically keeping your poems appropriate (no cuss words either) and you don’t even have to write for the comp if you don’t want to, the chat is also a space to just share your poems!
Lmk if you’re still interested in joining!

I can add you to the gc if you’d like!
Just lmk!
