Well, someone’s gotta break it to the non plant enthusiasts, the blue parts of this opuntia are painted, and the new growth emerging will never turn back blue. If you see succulents in stores that are painted, leave them there, don’t fuel their production. The colours block sunlight from reaching the leaves (no photosynthesis, no food), and the plant won’t retain it’s artificial colouring. Similar goes with dyed Phalaenopsis orchid blooms :pensive_face:

DW Fran is aware of this and didn’t paint it herself else I’d be rather upset with her :goblin:

Though there are other species of cacti that are actually blue torquise/cyan but you get the point.

Blue is a rare plant colour, but it does appear, not every blue plant is a painted fake
