Question about C2C

hello everyone. I’ve recently taken an interest in c2c crochet and have been practicing making small swatches. i attempted to follow a graph earlier but was confused on how to do the color changes. specifically, are you able to carry the yarn in anyway? i would really rather not have to cut and reattach it on new rows but am unsure of any other way to do it. also, can you do graphs with only two skeins of yarn? some of the tutorials ive seen say that you should have 2-3 bobbins for even just a 2 color graph. soery for the rambling, but if anyone could clear these up for me, I’d be very grateful. have a lovely day :sparkling_heart:

Check out Make Do Crew with Jess. There are a lot of resources on corner to corner crochet on her website.

I’ve taken a couple of her courses, well worth it.

I love c2c. I’ve done a few myself. My last one had 15 different colors. You can carry the yarn but I would only carry for one or two blocks. You always have the risk of the other color showing through. Feel free to ask me anything. I’m no expert but I do have a little experience. Here are a couple examples of ones I’ve done

could you possibly elaborate on what you mean by carry it for one or two blocks? do you mean in the same row or between rows (like you use blue in the middle of row 12 and the carry it to row 13)

I love doing C2C blankets. Even with a simple 2 color blanket you will have multiple bobbins. I use 1 bobbin as much as possible for each section for going both up and down. (Hard to explain in writing) The most bobbins I have had attached at one time was 47. I enjoy the challenge of the color changes with the simple stitches. I can’t find my good pictures of the process but I found a small example of the bobbins on the carrot.

If you are just doing stripes it will be simple. If you are doing an image be ready for lots of ends to tie and tuck.

thanks for the heads up on weaving in the ends. i may go through my stash and see if i have enough of sone colors to try a small graph. can you make bobbins by winding a few small cakes or do you have to buy them?

It’s a pay pattern from the crochet couch

Yes both! But I would only carry if one of those blocks is that color. Like if you have a red you want to carry. You would want one of those blocks to be red. That way you don’t have to worry about the colors showing through

ah okay, thank you!

You can use anything for a bobbin. I have used pieces of cardboard that I cut to shape, I have just balled it up by hand, wrap it around a clothes pin, use whatever you have at hand.

I’ve never done something super complicated where I had to carry colors and stuff… I did a Pride flag back in May, so just stripes

how did you do the straight stripes? did you carry the yarn or cut it after each row? sorry for so many questions, i just find it all a tad confusing
