Question about making keychains

I crocheted a little soot gremlin for my mom as a keychain, and just tied a piece of yarn to the top and added the key ring on there, but it ended up coming right off. (which looking back, I should have known the yarn wouldn’t hold up…)
What do you guys use if you want to turn your little guy into a keychain?

I have special little things that are maybe from iron or smt else, but I didn’t try it out. I buyed them from my local yarn store.

OKAY HERE ME OUT!!! So when you are making a keychain like, crocheting it, bend a paper clip! And then stick it out at the top! :) (I’ll get a paper clip to show)

I use a jump ring to connect my gummy bears (for example) to keychain lobster clasps. I have to open the jump ring super wide to get it under a couple stitches, then close it mostly and add the clasp, then close the jump ring all the way.

I have strong rings for making jewelry that I open and insert into the stitches and close. I put whatever kind of keychain attachment (claw hook, ring and chain, etc.) on that.
