Ren Fair advice/patterns/ideas?

Heyyy guys! Is this the right place to put this??? Idk
ANYWAY! I just found out there’s gonna be a ren fair near us in October. Being the mega nerds we are, my brother and I are going! This is our first time, so we have no costumes, no experience, nothing.
So, I have three questions.

  1. People who have done this before, any tips? What to bring, expect, ect.
  2. What should I dress as?? I’m thinking cottage core, either elf, fairy, or pirate ish.
  3. I want to crochet at least one part of my outfit!! Weither that be a belt, bag, ect. My only rule is no hats haha
That’s it!! Feel free to give me inspo photos as well, I’ll take anything!! I’m really excited. It’s not until October 11-12 (I think we’re only going one day tho)
I’ll take ideas for my brother too. He loves DND! I’m planning on going to the thrift store at some point, to keep things affordable. Plus I’ve heard that’s how most people find their outfits!!
Anyways, I’ve yapped long enough

It’s going to depend on what you decide to dress as but this cloak is freaking cute!

The style of clothing is generally that of medieval times..

For suggestions, I would start off at the ren faire’s site and look for a section on ren faire’s edicate… Then start looking at YouTube for various videos at ren faire’s…

D &D is basically the same garb…but less combersom than medieval..it’s more like medieval gone glam

Hey! I do have a really good idea for cottage core. I did this costume for Halloween last year, and I really like it. It’s a mushroom! You could crochet wrist and neck ruffles. I don’t know if you meant you couldn’t crochet hats or if you couldn’t wear hats Period. Sorry if I misunderstood! I can’t find the rest of the costume, but here is the hat! My mom made it. Although I have never been to Renfaire, it looks so fun!

You could try to find a good corset online and a fun long skirt that you can customize
