Hey y’all,so basically my parents keep telling me I should start selling my crochet products but I don’t want to,but I just got a wave of encouragement and excitement cause I wanna try to have my first ever crochet market, but idk if I should do it cause it’s on may 16-17 and I’m busy rn but only for this month, and I rlly wanna do this cause it’s at a park that has a lot of people and it’s a park I live to go to,pls I need help and tips on this and here are ONLY a few of the stuff I would crochet and some other stuff
My first market was last October and what I found smelled were leggy frogs and loaf cats and the leggy frogs usually took 20 minutes for less to crochet and the loaf cats took like 30 to 40 minutes to crochet (you can sell loaf cats for 15 dollars btw)
I also found that people are more likely to come to you during markets if you are : NOT ON YOUR PHONE OR CROCHETING, SMILING, GREET THEM FIRST AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE NICE IN EVERY WORD YOU SAY!!!
Yes you definitely should! I started a small business where I sold these little crochet balls w eyes mainly but I also took custom orders at my school and it worked super well!! I sold stuff that begginers could make but still made a decent profit. It’s a super fun way to make a a small amount of money while doing something you love. (Also I would definitely buy anything in that picture!)
Sell things that don’t take too long to make, and you’ll get more money for your time.
If anyone has ever told you, that is sooo cute! Then that pattern is probably something that would sell.
If there are patterns that are kinda hard for you to make and you can’t memorize it even after making it a bunch, then it might not be worth selling.
Don’t be afraid to put yo or prices high! They may seem super high and you feel like you should lower them, but these are handmade items and your time is valuable.
Make things that you love! Don’t keep crocheting something if you hate it. This will make you not want to do a market.
So sorry for the lengthy message. I hope you do it and good luck!
Also following up on what I just said, when you are at a market on your table, you want things to be most visible to people. This means that even if you just bring a cardboard box, set it upside down and put things on top, things will be more at peoples eye level, and they will be more attracted to your booth.
I think you should only if you really want to. I understand the pressure of being told to sell your stuff but sometimes you just want to crochet for yourself. Totally reasonable.
I think, if you choose to, you have enough time to build up a good stock. But I found that I don’t sell quite as much as I anticipate for, though that depends on the area. Displaying is the fun part since you can get creative with presentation.
Again, if you don’t want to, you shouldn’t have to. But maybe doing it once can give you an idea if it’s something you want to do again or if you’re sure you want to stay away from it.
I hope this helps, good luck!
