I’ve played cello since 4th grade playing in private lessons and in school, I wouldn’t consider myself very good, but I’m definitely better than the other kids in the school (they couldn’t care less about it)

i get that. I started on violin but I wanna switch to cello. I haven’t been taking any sort of fancy private lessons but I used to take private lessons. I just love everything about it and i want to be able to play it good because it brings me joy when i hear it so playing it will be a better joy.

Yeah, it’s kind of sad though, because unless you’re playing all cello music, you barely get the melody

Yes in my orchestra the cellos are just mainly the beat for the violins. They do get very pretty parts though when they play.

I’m kinda late to this lol but in dramatic pieces the cellos can get the melody. Also, bigger orchestral pieces have better cello parts. (I’m a sucker for fast, dramatic melodies)

Oh, yeah. I’m not in a school orchestra, it’s the Boise Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. Soooo much more hardcore XD
