i am so sorry. i can’t imagine how horrible and infuriating it must be to see your work on this app being cheaply copied and pasted. that is truly vile behavior. i wish you guys luck in fighting it.

AI works as research on how the brain works! 
I don’t want it in my daily life! 
It’s everywhere and I find it hard to stop! People buy things (patterns) that are unusable!

This makes me so sad and angry.
These people have no morals, no ethics and clearly no ability to come up with a unique idea themselves.
Chances are, if it ever takes off, it will end up being populated with all the AI slop we here at Ribblr fight against.
Crafters and creators will soon learn how to spot the fakes and come to see that Ribblr is a safe space free of ‘imitation art’.
Please know we stand with you in this fight. You’re not alone.

this seems so serious. 7days a week, for 7 years?? that’s just brutal for the amount of work you put in and then got stolen.
we will all try to support you thru every single step of the way so that OUR Ribblr doesn’t turn into THEIR Ribblr.
AI will never feel the same hardships and struggles that us humans do. AI will never take the time to test, write, and rewrite patterns at their own will.

Ive seen a few that steal other people’s video bar for bar use ai images and have way more followers than the people they stole from and it makes me sad for the people who put the people who put the work in making the content and exasperated by the fools watching it. Ngl I always tell the original creators when I know it’s plagiarised work. One one my fave creators they stole her logo videos and created a tiktok in her name and had millions of subs/followers while the girl who was have her work stolen had around 25k at the time

NOooo that’s so bad I hope the fake ribblr gets removed!! I choose this platform over anything else because there are no ai patterns and there are real makers, real crocheters who work hard to design beautiful patterns. Those patterns should 100% not be stolen by people ai or anything.

Thank you, Lir & Team for your dedication to authentic creations and celebrating genuine creators!
At first, the Ai slop was easy to identify (extra limbs/digits on “models”, “patterns” displayed that did not at all match the pictured project, pieces not lining up correctly, etc), but it seems to be learning and getting trickier to spot with confidence.
What other things do you look for to sort through genuine vs slop?
We might be able to better assist with flagging if we know how to more confidently identify

As I have kids in High School and Elementary School, we had open houses at their schools last week. It was awful to hear that they are having to worry about our kids using AI to complete papers and projects. My son one of his teachers the draft of his summer assignment and she was so delighted to find that he had done the work, not relied on AI to do it for him. I don’t even know when it became a thing!!
I have a friend who is a consultant for pharmaceutical companies regarding FDA Inspection readiness, and other compliance issues. She spends hours/days reworking the company’s documents, just to be told that the management could use ChatGBT to write them. Having worked on just about all sides of the pharmaceutical industry myself, I find this extremely insulting to her, her hard work, and her care and desire to give these companies her best, and their best chance at doing the right thing.
This all goes back to the simple thought, while computers can and do make our lives better, we must strive to not let them take over our lives and ability to think for ourselves!!!
This includes our right to keep our designs, patterns, and crafting community AI and THEFT free. If you didn’t design a pattern from scratch, give the inspiration credit. You loose nothing by being gracious to those who came before you. And truly you grow as a person when you can and do give credit to those who laid the groundwork. I have used some new to me stitches, and rather than make my own tutorials and try to pass it off as my own creation, I have provided acknowledgement to them and links to their tutorials. I would feel awful stealing their hard work and dedication to the craft. @Ribblr I for one would love to see an acknowledgement section added to the ePattern design.
Thank you to those who take the time to read my entire reply. Theft in any form is abhorrent and we should all strive to avoid it at all costs. "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” has a part that is left out of the quote. The full quote is "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.” It is widely misattributed to Oscar Wilde, but it actually evolved from a similar sentiment by writer Charles Caleb Colton in 1820. Yes we can imitate others, put out hundreds of patterns all just slightly different from the original, but does that make us a great designer or thief? Is there a real reason you changed the pattern, i.e., you changed the end goal/use for the pattern, you found a simpler way to get a desired effect, that wasn’t available when the original was created? These are questions we need to ask ourselves when we post a new pattern for something that already has a 100 different options to choose from. If you do choose to alter the original for some reason, you should not post the altered pattern as your own. Contact the original designer, tell them what modifications you made and why. Ask for their permission to post an updated pattern, and stick with their response. If they tell you its not okay to post it, and you do anyway its THEFT. if they tell you you can post it, but only on one platform, and only by acknowledging their design, and you post on multiple platforms and don’t give them credit, it is THEFT.
While intellectual property (IP) theft is hard to prove, think of how you would feel if you had spent 7day/week for 7 years designing something fabulous, and someone comes along and “imitates” you without a second thought. How does that make you
feel? Are you flattered? Are you enraged? Are you disheartened, disappointed, and disenchanted, and don’t want to trust anyone with anything else precious to you.
I applaud @lir for speaking out about her frustration and heartbreak at seeing RIBBLR copied by AI. We can all support her and the entire Ribblr community by being aware and consciousof our own decisions on what we post. Thank you Lir for sharing and I wish you the best with the upcoming legal battle if it comes to that.
I’ve rambled on for long enough, thank you for taking the time to read it all. I love the Ribblr platform as well as the entire Ribblr community. I love being able to learn new ways of doing things, and being able to share my own experiences with those younger and older than myself. Everyone on this platform can be an inspiration to anyone else, regardless of age and experience.

This is more than just stealing patterns. It’s AI that is taking away from small crochet businesses and crafters. AI IN ARTS IS BAD!
