I’ve added it on my own to my patterns, because as the idea of how to make something may be mine, I definitely did not come up with a new stitch or the original “look” behind something (especially something wearable). I have freehanded several items myself, but of course never wrote them down as I made them. So I may see a picture or pattern and if it inspires me to create something along that line but I make it differenly, I give credit where credit is due.

Honestly its very disapointing and scary..
I looked up crochet apps on the playstore just to see what it came up with… And so many of them were ai ones…
Like is this a real crafter?? Willing to upload a picture of a crochet item they liked to have the ai generate a pattern of it…
I like to hope the reviews are bots but with how people are you never know…

Im one from the lucky people around the world that I can understand whether something is ai or not. But I think that is really bad.

Im so sorry to hear that. Ive been seeing ads for those kind of apps on youtube, it sucks. If I had an instagram or tiktok Id definitely join in to help.

I also see a lot of ai patrens. Sometimes i see videos where people try ai patrens and it all came out wobly.

I can’t believe people think they can just steal, plagiarise and copy with no consequences at all. AI should never be used in crafts, because it’s something that humans as a species have created and perfected over the years. It can’t be taken away by generative AI.
My super long paragraph
Yes, it can be used to treat illnesses, do jobs that people can’t, and help the planet, but using it to ruin things that are enjoyable and fun is the worst thing it can be used for.
Not only this, it cheats people out of good money and destroys many small businesses. Ribblr is by far the least toxic and the most friendly community I have ever come across, and I would hate to see it be brought down by a computer far, far away from here.
People who use AI are cheating themselves, it is crucial to remember that. We can always do our bit to boycott works like this, and eventually we can create a life without AI causing trouble.
@lir, Ribblr is amazing: no computer can change that. It’s the best app I have and you should know that you’re doing amazing. Keep up the good work!

Just because this discussion is going on, as I was looking through some patterns I get daily, I came across this and it hit home. Thought I’d share. The idea that you actually have to call out that its handmade isn’t something we really should have to do.
