Suggestion for testing

That’s true but most of the people are ribbler are teens so what if they get grounded or something and have no communication

It’s a good idea but I think we should add to it

I think this would be beneficial too.
But I also think extensions shouldn’t be offered from the start. Extensions should be saved for if an emergency comes up…something big happens and it can’t be helped.

Like if the person hasn’t responded on ribbler for a certain amount of time then the testers should just get gifted the pattern because either way they still got access to it

I currently have 12 projects showing on my testing page but i have completed 8 of them. What is the pattern makers responsibility? how do i get them off my testing page?

This isn’t the designers fault tho, right? That would be on the person who gets grounded.
Why should designers be punished for a punishment a teenager is receiving from their parents?

See what I mean?

You should dm those designers or contact ribblr about that directly

Why should testers just be gifted patterns they didn’t finish?

Yeah but if the teen is in charges of the tester call and they are testing there pattern everyone is getting punished

The gifting of the pattern is in exchange for work completed…for helping the designer.

I wouldn’t expect a pattern to be gifted to me if I didn’t fulfill all the requirements.

Exactly. I’m not gifting my pattern to someone who didn’t fulfill their side of the bargain m getting grounded is their fault for whatever they did irl to cause that, no one else should suffer for it.

If I didn’t pay my internet bill and had no access to ribblr, I wouldn’t expect someone else to suffer for my failure. I should be the only one.

It should be enforced that they must put in a journal of the finished project before the get the pattern gifted (they already have access to the pattern though)

But if the tester is offline for however long and doesn’t get it done, then they’re removed from testing and not gifted the pattern

We aren’t going to argue on this post.

If teens cannot properly run their tests for their own patterns or cannot complete the things they’ve signed up for, that is on the individual.

If a teen gets grounded while running a test, that’s between them and their testers.

4 tests at a time is plenty. It’s not asking people to be locked in at only one test at a time, it’s asking testers to be more mindful of what they are signing up for and their limits as well as asking designers to be more responsible and release testers from obligation in a timely manner after finishing.

I think a limit is a great idea!

I’m not young, but I know my limitations. I currently have three things I’m testing, and am probably going to get another, but I know I can finish them. I also will try to restrain myself from applying to anymore till I’m finished with a couple, because 4 is a personal limit.

But also like someone else said, sometimes I cast a wide net knowing I won’t be testing all.

I love that you have a limit for yourself. I limit myself to one at a time, but I’m also very selective with what I’m willing to commit my time and effort to…and I know I have a one track mind, so I can’t operate more than one test at a time…so I don’t.

But I am also an adult so I’m overly familiar with my limitations.

I understand, sry if I got u frustrated, I think this idea has real potential but there still needs to be some fixes here and there to insure that it’s good for ribblr

I’m not frustrated, I just think a limit on how many could be tested at once will help solve a lot of frustration for testers and designers alike.

I think a lot of designers feel like testers are using testing as a hack to get a bunch of patterns without it applying to their daily limit of free patterns/not having to pay for them…and that’s super unfair to designers right?

It’s also super unfair to those of us that mostly do makes of patterns rather than design…and we abide by the limits or pay the price for unlimited free patterns.

Doing a test isn’t about getting a pattern for free…it’s about supporting a designers journey to get their vision out there by helping to make sure their pattern works up well and is written well. As a tester, you play an integral role in this journey and your help should and will be rewarded by the gifting of the pattern.

But…you should also receive an award of your own in feeling pride from what you’ve created too…and that you’ve played a part in that patterns release into the world!

Take cens dragons she just released:
I tested that pattern, I am so proud of my make and so proud that I helped get cens vision out…that I couldn’t bring myself to sell the make at market…and I’m making another dragon from the pattern because I truly love it.

That…is what testing is about.

I agree with u that would solve a lot of problems, but what I’m trying to say is that we should add on to the idea so that it functions for everyone so it will support everyone’s needs.

I like the idea of only being able to test 4 patterns at a time because people can’t say they are too busy testing another pattern to test your pattern that they already signed up for, but I think if we add on to this idea further more like by saying u can only test 4 patterns and if the person in charge of the testing hasn’t responded to u past the due date then u automatically get off the hook for testing there pattern (even if u created) (u can still post a journal) but then u can still carry on with ur business and test other people’s patterns.

I 100% agree the testing amount should be limited, I believe that’s highly beneficial to both the tester AND designer, so no one is getting overwhelmed!

And I also agree maybe we should limit the amount of tester projects you can apply to. Say you can apply for up to 5 within 2 days, just as an example, if you don’t get picked for one you applied for, then it will ā€œreturnā€ one of those chances to apply to something and you can then apply to another tester project; does that make sense?

Or even, as a designer, maybe it should show you how many projects someone currently has in their testing section, without showing what it is they’re testing of course, then the designer can decide if they think the person should have the opportunity to test for them or not, if they think they have the time or if they have too much on their plate and then can choose someone who would actually be able to complete the project!

Just a few suggestions!
