Suggestion for testing

At the point when the designer is being unresponsive and not releasing testers from obligation well after completion and a due date, no…testers should not be penalized and ribblr needs to be contacted about that so they can remove it from someone’s library without penalization.

That exists as it stands now. There’s no need to fix that, ya know?

You say ā€œoff the hookā€ like testing is something you’re obligated to do. If the designer hasn’t responded to you past due date and you’ve followed all requirements, you should reach out to Ribblr and they’ll handle it.

10000% agree. I exclusively test things that I am in love with. Not just any test just because of the testing process. It is fine when people are close to the due date, but not if they were too late bc they were busy with testing. If you get sick or any other thing I really don’t mind asking of an extension, but this is definetely a very good suggestion.

These are lovely suggestions to add to it!

yea eg, i rarely ever apply for tests now bc i barely ever have any free time for testing, so i simply asked to be tagged in the release, no matter how cute it is or if it will be a paid pattern… not always easy tho and can even be heartbreaking  :cherry_blossom: :cherries:

Certainly can be heartbreaking to have to pass on applying to test something super cute cause you don’t have time, I get that. I experience that sometimes too cause I just don’t have time to complete a test at the moment.

But, there will always be other tests!

I honestly think 4 is a very good number, unless they are all VERY little things, in which im sure someone can finish it quick and then sign up for the next test. Great Idea!! @Ribblr check this out! its a very good idea.

Thank you for being awesome like that :growing_heart:

Exactly. I know I’m only new here , I will offer to test one day . I just have a lot on atm.

But like I say some are just in it for free stuff .. I do other crafts and you see people joining groups .. and the first thing they ask is where are the files / patterns etc when they only joined that day .

I think designers should have set rules like FB groups do, You have to have been here for so long. They have to show you their work etc. After all it’s their photos you may use to promote your pattern. I think the bosses here need to do something too if possible where they are banned if they keep doing it. Not sure if this is in place already ? but it’s something that needs looking at  x

There is like a Karma system where you get a point for every completed test. But that doesn’t seem to work well enough apparently. Maybe there should be a more detailed feedback? If you limit tests people who just want free patterns can still get how ever many you limit them to.

The only issue I can see with implementing this is that people who apply for 4+, will get accepted to some but not others therefore it will prevent them from testing some that they applied to. Would that notify that designer that the person can’t test? Because otherwise, designers will think a person is testing when in reality that tester is already capped at 4. And if you cap the applications, that runs into the issue of the fact that you won’t get selected for all the tests.

I only say that because I’ve had several test where I did not intend to have so many but figured at least a couple of them I wouldn’t be selected. I did finish them all on time, but it’s not always intentional. Especially when there’s no exact date listed of when testers will be picked. Which was part of my problem. I assumed one of my applications was rejected because it’s been over a week (listing said in a couple days). So I applied to a few others. Then saw I had like 5 testing patterns :joy:

May I use the opportunity to ask something?
I test a lot, like really a lot, but I do finish in time usually with a few days to spare. Is that still a problem? Like am I taking space from others who would want to test as well or are (you) designers rather happy to find people who do actually test at all?

I don’t know that many people pay attention to karma points. I don’t know how many I have but I’ve done over 20 tester calls, finished them all on time and I don’t believe the karma points change based on if you finish on time or not, so even if someone finishes late they’d still get a point for completion.
I have seen someone suggest a ā€˜review’ type system so that designers can say whether a tester finished on time, didn’t complete, etc so that other designers will be able to decide on whether or not to selecting that tester. And I kind of like that idea

As a designer, I just am glad that people apply to test my things!

I like that idea also!

I agree, also in the positive way. Like I see some fellow testers who are very detailed in their feedback, work together with the designer on rewriting certain sections, provide pictures and help to other testers - they do so much more then just making the pattern that I feel like they deserve more appreciation and other designers should know about them being the best testers they can choose

Exactly! If I can review a pattern via journal I feel it’s only fair that they can review me as a tester who signed up to do a job. And the tester review can always be only accessible to designers instead of a public thing. Plus if I do a poor job I’d like the feedback

Honestly, I had several testing as well as I had my own two in tests. I don’t feel restricting people to 4 is fair. Simply because not everyone is irresponsible. As a designer I have accepted people only for them to ghost me or remove themselves with zero explanation. It all boils down to being responsible. Kinda like how much you put on your plate.
I do have several amazing testers who I do use and to me I do look at karma points plus how many tests they have completed.

The problem with that is creators that abandon their tests. It’s happened to me several times and they just sit in the testing folder forever… and eveeeer. If you quit them it counts against you like you abandoned them even though I finished them all.

I just realized I’m late and someone already mentioned it. :joy:

I’ve used my materials like 5-6 times, finished on time, done the requirements, and not been gifted the pattern. It costs money to test and some things I have to buy stuff for. I mean being compensated with the pattern is kinda the minimum people should do for their testers. Some designers hold it over you like they won’t gift you if you don’t jump through a bunch of hoops and as a tester I feel they should be grateful. So yeah you have needs as designer, but you’re basically asking for a favor that cost the tester more than your pattern is worth. Sometimes many many hours…which is also worth money. …

This idea was brought up and did not go anywhere because people who test regularly were saying that if testers were able to be reviewed by designers for their testing and whether they finished on time, they should be able to review the process of testing for a designer.

This is why I proposed this idea.

I did discuss this idea with a few designers…because reviewing seemed like the first obvious answer to me. I was informed that that idea was proposed and went nowhere because it turned into a problem.
