Im not sure. I think the issue at hand is more an epidemic of people overcommitting themselves to testā¦meaning they are picking up a ton of tests and then asking for a lot of extensions because they canāt finish on time.
Thatās my understanding, which is the reason for the limit.
Other people have suggested that instead of a limit, designers could see a number of tests an applicant has in their testing library and decide if they are okay with picking that individual if they have a lot of tests they are in.
Some designers abandon, thatās well known. Some designers have very loose deadlinesā¦and thatās up to the designer. Some designers have strict deadlines theyād like to keep and are being held up because of the amount of testers who are overcommitting.
Is that everyoneās problem? No. But will it affect whether designers keep offering tests for their patterns on here? Yes. And that was the idea for this suggestion.
I donāt think a limit will hurt newcomers, as most tester posts Iāve seen have asked for pics of aspiring testers latest makesā¦and it seems that a good number of designers arenāt judging on karma alone, but rather skill/liking the work the aspiring tester does.
Hm, I donāt see that happening. I rather perceive people just ghosting which I believe to be rather a personality flaw then correlated to the number of tests. But Iām not on the designer end of things, maybe they receive plenty private messages about that
Iāve heard itās a lot of all of it.
People who ghost usually simply get removed from testing and thatās done and over with based on my understanding.
But there are a lot of people who say they need extensions because they are busy while still picking up more tests.
Idk tho. This was just a suggestion, was more hoping to maybe bat around some ideas as well as to what could be done to help if anything.
Itās always good to speak about optionsā Iām just still wondering whether I test too much. I just like helping with what I do and the community and help within a tester group. So basically everything I make is a test. But I donāt want to harm others by it, so the suggestion of a limit had me wondering
And this wasnāt really a perfect suggestion either, I know peachy added to the suggestion with a cool ideaā¦as well as others who added some cool ideas to make the suggestion better!
Peachy suggested being able to earn more tests on your limit by amount of karmaā¦so like leveling up, and I think thatād be a great way to do it if a limit was implemented (doubt it will be). It would start people out with a reasonable number of tests to have at once, then they could work up to more.
Maybe ind start at 4 at the same time to have in testing. But you could apply to more only the desiner can not add you untill you have finished one of the others.
It is also if you give pics of where you are in the pattern that is bether for desiners to know that you make work out of them.
Right now i have 3, 1 big finished with journal, 1 small without cos i did not have the right lighting but the desiner already knowās that i made it due to a pic for them. And i where i needed response of the desiner to get to the next step cos it was really difficult to understand that part.
I create also, there i have only the limit of no negative scoreā¦yes there are somme
And i need a pic to prove you worked on it.
Right now i am working on an alphabetā¦did the letter A to test if it worked out the way i wanted and that was ok for my testers. So now they have ABC, and the rest will come in diffrent patterns, maybe testing but i just think i put them all online without testing. And then bundel them ofc
I seen many people suggest this, and I think that this would be a great idea! The only thing is that I assume it would go off how many tests are in your library and a lot of people just wonāt gift a pattern to testers. Whether they forgot, abandoned the pattern or Ribblr, or something else. Then it would make it unfair to those who have completed it, but just havenāt been gifted the pattern.
Also someone suggested with karma adding to how many tests you can apply to and I really like that idea. It would also encourage people to apply and comment to tests!
Awesome input and feedback here! Thanks for the thoughtful discussion here Ribblrs
We are collecting a lot of feedback and plan to release a new round of improvements for our testing tools later this year - so this feedback is super helpful! Weāll keep an eye on this topic.
Iām not sure exactly how it would work as far as designers abandoning a testā¦I know as of right now, if you dm ribblr about it, they can remove the test from your library without hurting your karma.
I donāt know if testers donāt know about that or they do and are just stuck with patterns cause they are waiting on the pattern to be gifted and donāt wanna leave without itā¦which I can understandā¦you did the work. But there does exist a way to get out of abandoned tests without it hurting your karma.
The idea of being able to earn more came from peachy and I think that would be excellent! It would help people start from a base of a reasonable amount of tests and allow them to identify how many they can handle, get comfortable with testingā¦etc etc. it would encourage people to test tooā¦and finish tests!
As I said, itās not a perfect suggestion! But thereās input in here that could be useful along with the original suggestion!
thatās so real though! I never really thought Abt that in that way, I think thatās a good perspective to think Abt to! Really I think if we can combine some ideas and concerns we could totally work something out!
I think that if this idea is implemented then people will probably automatically not be able to because ribblr also does stuff like that all the time like the way u can only self promote once a week!
