Suggestion for testing

I see. I don’t do self promo. Think I did it once…forever ago lol.

Anyway, I’m unsure how it would be implemented if it was, but I’m sure if we all stick our heads together and develop the idea further so we can give the best possible outcome for both designers and testers…we can come up with a neat system that makes testing easier and smoother for all!

There is another discussion from the testers I think some of these issues could be fixed/addressed at the same time.

Well I said off the hook because they aren’t doin it anymore and that’s a good idea to just get ribblr but honestly if there’s tons of stuff like this happening wouldn’t it just be easier to fix it now?

These ideas on the tester side are neat too! Think the ideas there should be included in this too. Would love to see it all together so that everyone has the smoothest testing process!

I could help think of ways to design something on the designers end to increase everyone’s efficiency.

As a professional, I totally understand deadlines, and personal limits. I recently had a project in which I had to let the customer know I wasn’t going to be able to complete the project on time, because I wanted to take out about 1/2 of what I had completed, because i noticed a mistake that was causing the blanket to be short 10-15 stitches. I gave her options, including finishing it on time but top would be noticeably narrower or fixing it, but it would be late. Thankfully she understood my desire to complete it correctly. Otherwise I would have finished it by the deadline.

And now that I have the extension on that project, it is still number one priority. I won’t take on more than I can handle to ensure its done right and on time.

That being said, I also agree that as a tester, it would be nice to have a better way to track what we have applied to work on, where we are in the approval/decision process, and how many we are actively testing. The designers I’ve tested for have been good at closing out my participation soon after I am done with my tester, but I understand that this may not be the case for everyone.

I can also understand having a rating system for both the testers and the designers. And the review questions at the end of the pattern could be expanded upon to be a more precise/helpful review.

Sorry if it seems like I’m rambling, but I work as a quality professional and love to find ways to improve processes.

Ok so I have been doin research and I went to Gemini and it helped me come up with a descent plan but I want y’all’s opinion on it ā€œā€‹The ā€œReliability-Basedā€ Testing Plan

Instead of a hard, flat cap for everyone, Ribblr could implement a dynamic system that rewards good testing habits.

1. The Dynamic Cap System (The Compromise)

  • New/Unverified Testers: Limited to a maximum of 2 to 3 concurrent tests. This prevents beginners from overcommitting before they understand the workload.

  • Standard Testers: Once a user successfully completes 3 tests on time, their cap automatically raises to 4 or 5 concurrent tests (the sweet spot suggested in the screenshot).

  • **ā€œPowerā€ Testers:** Users with a 95%+ on-time completion rate and excellent feedback from designers can unlock unlimited tests (or a very high cap like 8).

2. Designer Autonomy

  • Designer’s Choice: Give designers a toggle when creating a testing call: ā€œAllow testers who are currently in other tests?ā€ * Urgent Tests: Designers with tight deadlines can restrict their applicant pool to testers who currently have 0–1 active tests.

3. The ā€œStashā€ Feature for Fast Approval

  • If a tester applies for 6 patterns and gets accepted to all of them, they can place surplus acceptances on hold in a ā€œTesting Queue.ā€ * The tester has 24 hours to decline the extras or accept them as soon as they submit a finished journal for an active test.

The benefits

  • Designers win because they get reliable testers who won’t hoard patterns or constantly ask for extensions.

  • Casual testers win because 4 slots is more than enough for the average crafter.

  • Power testers win because their hard work and speed are respected, allowing them to keep testing multiple patterns at once as long as they maintain a good track record.ā€

Please let me know any concerns Abt this idea, I can see what I can do to help mold this idea into something everyone likes.

Ribblr is no AI… Can we not pull Ai into this? :expressionless_face: The environment doesn’t need to suffer to talk about this problem. We can handle it as human beings without hurting the environment

I was just trying to get it to show my vision and research, it hard for me to put my ideas out there and to really present them to the world so this is what I did

It doesn’t matter if it’s ai it can help show all the opinions so I know that I’m not just looking into my own and get the full picture

It truly does matter if it’s Ai. If you can’t see how much people hate Ai because of its impact, you’re not paying attention. I’m not going to continue this conversation to avoid confrontation.

I’m kinda confused wdym? Why are against ai?

I suggest doing a Google search and inform yourself on how much Ai is taking up valuable resources like water, how much pollution it causes, the towns that have been destroyed by Ai data centers, the power consumption, how it steals from artists… Literally a Google search of why people hate Ai or specifically why artists hate it can give you so much information.

Thank u for letting me know, it’s helpful to understand ur perception to of the matter and sry if I disrespected u in any way by using it!

Good idea! I find this happens myself as well, because I test in groups due to free seasonal time in the year and I apply to many tests sometimes and get none or one, or other times I get all and lie to myself that I can do it all

this is a good idea

also, if anybody applies for to many tests, that’s their decision, it may be a poor one, but it is theirs. There is no reason to be mean, but you can try to say it in a nice way

I don’t think anyone here is being mean? It’s a suggestion for helping the testing process is all.

Unfortunately, their poor decisions hurt designers. If people can’t be responsible for their own actions, a new system needs to be implemented to help curtail this behavior. Or we should be able to report this behavior so that these limits can be put on specific users. And maybe after finishing so many tests on time, the limit could be removed :slightly_smiling_face:
