Tc vs tr

I just got a message from someone doing a pattern asking me what ‘tc’ stood for. Told her triple or treble crochet and the abbreviations list should show her. Except it doesn’t… Apparently the ribblr system doesn’t recognize tc as treble crochet? It only recognizes tr?

Does anyone else use tc for triple/treble crochet? Am I the only one who didn’t realize this? :expressionless_face: Not sure if I should go through and unpublished the patterns that use it and fix them or not :woman_facepalming: I wish we could add it to the abbreviation list

I also say tr, but either one works honestly

I had no idea it was tr! Everything I’ve made I’ve put it as tc

I used tc before coming to Ribblr and actually had it in my first few patterns

One of my lovely testers pointed this out since they don’t use us terms and it didn’t translate, so I changed my default to tr

I’m glad I’m not the only one :woman_facepalming: wonder if ribblr could just add it to the algorithm for those of us who didn’t know :joy:

I use tc! It just makes sense because single crochet is sc, and double crochet is dc.

In my 20 years of crocheting I’ve never seen Tc used for a treble.

I’ve always wondered what the abbreviation for triple/treble so I think I just either avoided it or I would write trc but both makes sense!

I just use Tr

I put this in suggestions. Because I think we want Ribblr to see this. Maybe they can add it to the list.

Thanks, I debated about that but I wasn’t sure if I was the only one that was oblivious.

That’s what I told my husband. I just went on a long rant about why all the other stitches end in C except treble?! Like sc, hdc, dc, tr??? Whyyyyyyy

I noticed Dec doesn’t have a video. :frowning: I guess because it could be scdec or dcdec or hdcdec or … I think Dec video should direct you to that, somehow.

I usually use trc!

At least, you should mention that at the beginning of your patterns.

Also, talking about abbreviations, I wish we could edit them for the fact that if you say shell at all, it comes up with the shell stitch. Like saying turtle shell in a turtle pattern will wind up with shell stitch in the abbreviations which has caused me to have testers saying to remove it but I can’t :upside_down_face:

Oh my. I guess I get to go pull some patterns down and fix them. Lol.
