I’ve already seen a post similar to this, but I feel like it needs to be stressed more. When testing, the tester always relies on the author to recieve credit and just make testing available. This recent person who I am testing for has not made a grouo chat within 2 weeks. I’ve been sending them messages about my progress, but I have had no response. Now I am stuck testing for a pattern that I may never be gifted or removed from testing. This is awfully annoying for how often it seems to happen. I’m not sure what Ribblr can do about this, but I think it would seem fitting for testers to rate the authir based on their abillity to communicate and give their testers credit for the hard work they do. I feel like it needs to be acknowledged that testers are not the only one that ghost and don’t communicate. Overall, heres some things I thought of that may help with this.
-ability to rate authors and leave reviews on good or bad behaviours
-maybe a short training video required to watch before hiring testers?
-Requirement to automatically create a testing room or private chat after selecting testers
-ability to stop testing if the author is silent without hurting your personal image
These would be very helpfuk to fix this problem. I feel like it’s getting more common.
Those are all great ideas! I’ve not really yet got ghosted by an author of a pattern, but it seems to be really annoying.
I also think Ribblr should add like “testing staff” or smt, if the author is ghosting smb and never gift the pattern, the staff could gift it instead. Just an idea tho :)
Yesh i have had this problem before with some of my first few tests and i had no idea HOW to test besides making the pattern and no one would help me or send me a gc so i eventually would just abort and i would never get gifted the pattern.
Sounds like they need to become more familiar with the
Had a few like that myself… Had to abort a few too. Super frustrating chasing after people who just ignore any and all the messages you send. I have a list of people I won’t test for any more.
yeah… i have someone I tested for like 3 months ago and i messaged them multiple times, and they said they were going to gift it, and it’s still in my testing library and I don’t want to abort because my precious testing percentage. (lol)
Same, I have a test been sitting for about a month now. No response from the creator or anything..
Yeah that sounds super frustrating. Great suggestions tho.
at the point, you need to reach out to Ribblr mods and let them know that this person is failing to follow the testing guidelines :)
good idea! I belive @BubblyBears25 had something like this
Yeah I did,
Please, do smt like this! I’ve had a pattern for over 3 weeks now in my testing tab, messaged the creator around 3 times, no response. It’s frustrating
Sameeee!!
It’s a “Beary-cute granny square sweater” for me, maybe we’re testing the same thing!
Mine is the Mia headband. I was gonna test the beary sweater, and I’m glad I didn’t
Yeah, you should be. It’s sooo frustrating when it happens, I think a person should have experienced testing for someone atleast once/twice before starting to publish they’re own patterns
Mine is a small star
Yeah, I agree
I have actually just removed myself from a test today due to lack of response to me and others doing the test and not being marked as complete when it has been well over a week since I’ve been done. On your testing pattern on the top left of the picture you will see what looks to be a little battery type icon with an x. You click on it and you can remove yourself.
(it’s actually a clipboard with an x, lol.) the problem is that’s called aborting, and that will harm your testing percentage.
