I Always Leave Them In The Skeins and Pull from the Center, so No Unraveling Necessary! Much Prefer It That Way!

I like to have mine a skein, but if it falls apart, I have to use my yarn winder to make it into a cake! Although, I kinda do like having a cake more, because it’s easier for it to stand

I always rolled mine into balls until I learned about cakes so I bought a cheap winder and now I cake them unless the skein is too big for my winder.

I would love a skein ( as apparently a cake holds too much tension and can damage yarn if left for two long) BUT PLEASEEEEEEEEE PLEASSEEEEEEEE
MAKE THE YARN TAIL CLOSE TO THE CENTER PLEASE I BEG YOU 
No way I need to perform abdominal surgery everytime I need to use a new yarn

I usually leave it in a skein until it becomes annoying to unravel, and then I would make it into a cake. I also wait to do so bc a whole skein takes forever to make into a cake

I leave it in a skein, but only because I don’t have a winding machine thing and I’m too lazy to do it by hand. That being said, whenever I’m on the go, I hand wind some yarn around my fingers to take with me in smaller quantities. But that’s neither cake nor skein really.

Omg cake all the way. So tired of yarn barf in the middle of skeins. I’m hoping Ribblr yarn is different bc I hate taking the time to make yarn into a cake lol. I actually buy a lot of used yarn and it’s often in cakes already, which is great, and when I go to a LYS I ask them to put it in a cake for me since they usually have the super fancy whamodyne electric winders.

Luke many others here, skein until it starts falling apart and then I making into a ball. Reminds me of my grandma when yarn winders did not exist. Keeping in skeins allows me to keep the label on it. I don’t have time to do everything I want to do in a day, so I don’t waste time making it into a cake or ball from the beginning lol!

Mm imo I like leaving my yarn as a skein, but if it gets tangled I wind it into a cake

Oooo I pretty much just leave it as a skein because it’s easier to transport in my backpack on the planes. Even when it falls apart, I try to leave it as much in the bundle as possible with the outside wrapped around the center to hold it together.

I roll it into a ball, sadly, as I haven’t managed to purchase a cake winder yet. And when I tried a hack for doing it with a pen and your thumb it didn’t quite turn out like the one in the video!
