i’ve seen a lot of tips for markets in terms of patterns to make, but i was wondering if anyone had tips for things like talking to people, pricing, how to organize things, and just anything else in general. :) thanks!
Usually how I price my things, though I haven’t done many markets, is to get a rough idea by looking at etsy or online to see what others are pricing similar items at, and also thinking about realistically if I to buy an item about how much would I be willing to pay for it.
There’s a few good pics for setups here
You’ll want a mix of things in a variety of colors, styles and price ranges (and have things priced, a lot of people really hate to ask). Really big fancy flashy items draw people in to look around, but the smaller stuff sells faster. Use different levels, like shelves and such to get more space out of your table. If the market itself is themed (for example, summer, gaming, school or Christmas) it can influence your inventory.
Being able to take multiple forms of payment is a plus. Also, make sure to have proper change if you’re taking cash.
For talking to people don’t pressure them so much like “if you like this there’s also this and this and this”. And if someone is obviously looking don’t talk to them at all usually I get nervous if I’m just looking and someone talks to me. Idk that doesn’t apply to everyone.
Also if you have multiple so ial.media platforms make like QR codes for them on a paper and have half sheets of paper with all your information so they can reach you or something. (Definitely add something like “do you crochet too? Check out my patterns on Ribblr” or any other site like Etsy)
Make sure to have categories/separators and add height! Get bins, put things on top of them, and another tip is to have pricing “tiers”! Like $5 items, $10, $20, yards yada. Gl!
