What are your tips for selling patterns?

Hello everyone! I recently started selling patterns on ribblr and I want to know what your tips for selling patterns are. :pink_heart:

I only have a few patterns so far, so I think that’s the reason I’m not getting any sales, lol

When you were starting out, how did you guys do?

Thank you so, so much!!! :pink_heart:

I think the more the original the pattern is the more chances of it selling. If there are a lot of free ones that are comparable, it probably won’t. Most importantly, be patient. As the platform grows, the sales will also.

The think you need to do is make sure there are testers and post pictures of the patterns on pinterest and also make sure you post a pattern release thanking you’re testers for there help and showing what crochet project they made with said pattern

so i took a look at your shop and i think its cute! you have cute patterns! and i can see you have a cute style, and you have amazing stitch work! tight and clean! its already a good start but here are a few things I would do personally but not that you NEED to do it  just my opinion!
1- dont draw over the plushie, it takes away from the thing people want to buy, draw around it ! just not ON it

2- find ways to make your patterns stand out in a “over saturated” style/community, there are TONS and TONS or turtle patterns and duck patterns and many art made in a similar style which is fine! by no means is that a problem, but view it this way… if you find 5 of the same similar items on a marketplace that looks all equally amazing… you’ll likely go to one that will save you mor money. it’s a natural instinct people have. so find a way to stand out  weather it be the way you take photos, the color of yarn you use or even the type of eyes you use! even as simple as a fun name can stick out to people
3- make more patterns, when I started out my first year I think I had like 6 patterns? i only made like 4 sales the whole year.. I’m now at 30+patterns and more on the way and this last 2 months alone ive sold over 25 patterns on ribblr alone

4- not sure how often you go on sale but if you ALWAYS go on sale when its “slow” then no one will buy at the fill price! they would rather buy it knowing you’ll go cheaper! (not that is what you’re doing but just a tip I wish I knew sooner!) keep discounts for holidays and big events! I used to do sales like every other week and rarely made money and never at full price! make sure you price your work where you deserve<3

it’s not a bad ideas to have “trendy” patterns in your shop! actually it can even help bring people it! BUT you need something to stand out to keep them coming back! by having stuff other shops won’t have!

also advertising on insta, fb and tiktok will help!! it’s important to get yourself out there! I’m very new to the social medias but just the other day someone reached out telling me I’m the reason they want a ribblr account JUST to buy my pattern

and pattern selling unfortunately isn’t a very big income in general as people only buy it once and so it’s important to keep coming out with new things!! the more you make the more that can be bought  you can make good money on patterns! but there’s only so much one can buy you know? a good tip I’m working towards is getting monetized on my medias where I post videos and stuff about my patterns:)
