Hey Mimi,
I am a parent and I also came from similar family dynamics.
It sounds like that conversation really hurt. And I am sorry. You’re doing a lot.
…Crocheting, designing patterns, gymnastics, swimming, reading, getting good grades, even running a shop. That’s honestly amazing!
Sometimes parents focus on what they think is best for the future and forget to notice all the effort their kids are already putting in. ![]()
That doesn’t mean what you’re doing isn’t valuable. Creative skills can absolutely turn into real opportunities. You sound like you are disciplined.
Honestly walking away when things felt overwhelming and not starting a fight… Shows how mature you are.
Your worth isn’t measured by whether you fit someone else’s perfect image. From what you described, you’re hardworking, creative, and motivated. That already says a lot about you.![]()
Thank you so so much
Are you an only child cos then all the pressure of your parents will fall on you. They want you to become bether than them. So don’t judge them.
Just try to say (or write a letter) what you do and how you see your future. My eldest want’s to be like his dad, an ingeneer…the youngest here loves his judo as a hobby and sees himself more in the woodbuilding sector he dousnt know the specifics yet and that is ok. We understand and help them both to achieve there dreams.
Just remember that you are enough. You don’t have to be perfect in other ones there eyes. You are already perfect as yourself. If you need help ask around.
But stay yourself and never forget: we have 1 boddy and you need to take care of only yourself. The rest is bonus.
I have an older brother
And he get’s the same pressure from your parents? Or do you feel like you’re getting more pressure cos you are a girl?
My dad is the strict one and since my brother is a boy like my dad they like understand each other and have some humour thing
Just tell your father what you want in your future. Then he can see if he can help you on the way
I’m not so sure about that
as a parent myself talk it out with them tell them how you feel they might feel defensive at first but they will come around and realize that what they are doing is hurting your feelings/selfasteem i still have children that are too little to be in this situation but if my daughter would tell me how she feels like sheis not enough because of my actions i would be devestated and try changing my behaviour as well as tell her every day she is and always will be enough cause she is and you are too mimo believe me when i say they probably will feel the same way i do you just have to communicate your feelings i wish my children will do that too.
communicate its crutial to a good realashionship as well as life in general
hope that might help a little ![]()

Ty
Yes! Thats more than i do!
mimo you should never have to prove your own worth to your parents, what you are doing it INCREDIBLY amazing. Most people in the world cant crochet and I cant even really do a cartwheel. I hope everything smooths over with your family and your parents realize just how awesome and talented you are. Praying for you ![]()
Thank you so hope you get your cartwheel soon lol
As a parent of two teenage girls, I am here to say…. Every child is perfect, it doesn’t matter what you do or don’t do!
If you are happy and you are not hurting anyone, do want YOU want to do xxx
You don’t need their approval your perfect the way you are don’t let them get to you that way luv u bestieeee
Awww I luv you toooo (as a bestie)
Ok, im gonna completely honest. This was my mindset for a very very long time. For several years I felt the way that you are explaining here, and it was the worst years of my life.
The truth is, when I let go of this mindset, it felt so much better. I was happier and in a better mood all the time. We have to remember that our parents are just people!! although it seems like they aren’t proud of us or think we aren’t good enough, the reality is that they just want to see us be happy and have a successful life!
And girl, YOU ARE ENOUGH!
The thing is, the Lord made us exactly the way we are, and He wouldn’t change a single thing about us! You don’t need to feel like you aren’t enough, because not everybody else’s standards have to be your standards! You are enough for being you!
Nobody is perfect, but you can still be enough!
You got me girly?
Love you ![]()
Yep I got u girly!!
Great! If you ever need to talk, feel free to dm me ![]()
