what is a good price for patterns and makes?

hey yall!
i am an advanced crocheter and i have made so many things but in the past four years i have just become selling my makes. this last few months i have started making patterns and i am not sure what the correct way to sell them is. as well as some plushies i made like example i have a duck lovey pattern i have made an i am about to post but not sure what price i should do as well as things i have knitted like medium sized pumpkins and apples they have just stems on them. any help would be greatly appreciated thank you!

Pattern Pricing

I am curious how other designers calculate how much s/he decides to charge for each of his/her patterns. Is there a “formula” you are using ? I’d love to be able to list my designs but am having a very difficult time trying to figure out the huge range of pricing designers here are using for similar patterns. Calculating selling prices

Hi there, I was just wondering how everyone calculates how much to sell their crochet patterns for, as I dont want to under or over charge. Is there a specific method, or is it just whatever you think fits??

How do you determine if your pattern should be free?

Hi everyone! I’m new in the crochet and pattern word and I was wondering, how do you determine if your design should be free or not? And if you put a price, how do you know how it should cost?

hello people I just had a general enquiry; how often do people BUY your patterns I guess people are more likely to get them if they’re free but I just wanna know what kind of prices sell and how many people actually pay for patterns Thank you all

IMHO: If I want to recoup the time & effort Ive exerted into designing a pattern and selling it, I 'd want to make sure as many crocheters as possible can afford to purchase it: if I feel I deserve say, $10 for the design, my train of thought is 5 sells @$2 ea is more than selling none at $10 ea!
Some of the reply’s above are perfect for selling your “makes” (i.e. cost of supplies times 3, plus ??/hour to make). However, selling my patterns yields me more by charging much less.

Because I want my designs out there and liked by fellow crocheters, what better way than to make my patterns accessible to as many as possible with permission to sell makes with my contact information attached as the designer?

That’s just my opinion. It might be helpful to buy or borrow books on the subject of selling designs vs selling finished items. Also this would help with understanding the copyright protection laws which is a major concern for all designers.

So its ok if i undercharge a little? Like 1.50 are $2 per pattern? Also. What all is a good place to sell the patterns. Is here a good place to get alot of sales? Are is there barly any?
