If you have a feeling about how a project is going to turn out, deal with the worry before it’s too late. ![]()

Also weave in ends better. All my old stuff is on the brink of falling apart.
Just to know how tension works and to us a smaller/bigger crochet hook
Never stop creating the things you love
look up anything u don’t know
use patterns
never use double crochet for plushies
get safety eyes instead of trying to sew them on
Yes same for the last one!!! I could’ve saved myself so much soreness![]()
One piece of advice I would give my past self is to keep trying at learning how to crochet - because eventually you will get it!
SWATCH. More than once if needed. if you don’t with a garment, it will either only fit Godzilla or only fit Tinkerbelle, it won’t fit your intended recipient
Be willing to change needle/hook sizes to meet gauge Don’t insist on using what size the pattern says
Be willing to use your own color choices if the ones in the pattern picture don’t appeal to you
Be willing to use what yarn you can afford not necessarily the exotic super expensive yarn that the pattern mentions
Start with a crochet kit for beginners (woobles) instead of stitching (lol no pun intended) together multiple bad YouTube videos to try and make a circle
Take frequent breaks. I’ve crocheted so much that I have wrist pain and back pain now.
Also try more difficult patterns rather than staying with stuff I already knew how to do - I only did amigurumi for 5 yrs and only recently started crocheting tapestry and clothes.

There are so many things I wish I knew.
When I didn’t have enough of the type of yarn I needed, and it was a gift to someone, and I had to use an alternate, similar color but it still didn’t look the best.
Note to self: always measure and figure out how big your project will be and how much yarn you will need.
I wish I had learned that using the standard way to hold yarn wasn’t the best suited for me, and that whatever grip on the yarn gets you consistent tension (even if it looks wacky) works
To weave in my ends as I go
Size down the hook! The reccomended one on the label is not meant for your tension! I run a lot tighted with my tension now.
-use stich markers
-use left handed videos/tutorials/book to learn how to crochet instead of right-handed ones ![]()
Sewing the pieces together isn’t as bad as you think it is. I used to have my mom sew them together and then my project woultn be finished for a while ![]()
When i first started I injured my wrist and back because I had no idea that you should stretch, pay attention to your movements and make sure youre sitting in a good position. Its so important
I didn’t either. My mother has carpal tunnel and she was the one who told me. When I looked into it I saw it could help with some of the stiffness and soreness after long crochet sessions. Now I take breaks and give my hands a stretch
