What's happening with my food buddy patterns?

guess it’s not really my place to get into this but I think a lawsuit is a little too far for a crochet pattern. An idea may just be that…an idea that popped into your creative mind!

Especially for a pattern that they (the other designer) admitted was not copied​

That sucks. A lot. You should still be able to release your patterns in my opinion. I mean how many other similar patterns are out there created by different crocheters? TONS. And they can’t own “buddies.” Thats weird. It’s a word and a pretty common one for referencing well little buddies, little guys… I’m like upset on your behalf. Totally unfair of the other person to say you can’t release yours. Because you didn’t copy them. Two people can come up with the same ideas completely independently. It happens. And chances are you didn’t execute the idea the same way. So let customers decide whose version they like best! Free market and all that… I’d be very surprised if they actually have any legal grounds here. This is so weird.

(I like your design better btw… theirs look distinctly different in design. I wonder if the lawsuit was just a threat that they wouldn’t be able to follow through on…)

This is so crazy honestly. There are so many patterns for so many things. Like COUNTLESS bee patterns, loaf cat patterns, etc. How can they believe they will be the only people to put arms, legs, and faces on food.

I’m so sorry this happened to you! Your pattern is so original that I couldn’t even see a connection to anything. There is patterns of big company brands and tv shows and they chose an original clearly different pattern is outrageous!

WAIT THAT IS SO UNFAIR!!! This makes me so mad tbh >:< there are soooo many people in this world so it is completely normal to think of a pattern that u thought of yourself but has already been made. I’m sure the person who got mad at u for this possibly wasn’t the first to come up with the idea, let alone make a pattern for it. And food with legs is such a simple concept that I feel like anyone should be allowed to create a pattern for. It’s not like and idea you have to spend months of hard thinking to come up with, so it’s normal and ok for others to have the same idea but just change it and make it their own! I liked yours a lot, I felt like u made the shapes of your unique and it seemed original! It’s like turtles with fruit shells. There are hundreds of people making patterns for those and no one gets to tell anyone they can’t make fruit turtle patterns of their own!?
Sorry if I’m rambling hehe I just think it’s so unfair!!!
