When did u start crocheting and/or designing patterns?

I started crocheting in 2022-2023 i can’t exactly remember, I’ve been free handing patterns practically from the start but I actually started designing patterns summer 2025!

I started designing patterns…last year. I made myself a loaf cat pattern when I was kinda starting to learn how to crochet. I was having difficulty with other loaf cat patterns becuase of the ears (sounds ridiculous but yeah) so I just made my own!

I startedd around 2023 i think? I needed something to do while stuck at home from a chronic health issue, and my mum suggested I look up some crochet tutorial and gave me her old hooks and yarn. For me, it was love at first stitch! I’ve been working on at least one project at all times ever since. I haven’t gotten around to designing anything just yet, but I’m hoping to do so next year!

I think I started out sometime in 2022 but I only knew the slip stitch. SO imagine just making everything from ugly hats for barbies and some pink raggedy thing that was supposed to be a penguin, they were all made with slip stitches. Then in December of 2024 I was given a wobbles kit and finally learned how to do actual stitches a make plushies. I then started designing sometime in march 2025!

Funny story… I started about a year ago, made four small projects, and gave up… I knew my basic stitches, but was just not motivated enough to start for real. 3 months ago, I went to my grand-mother’s and she does a lot of crochet, so I look at her stash and see some chenille yarn! I started crocheting, and I was so into using this specific chenille yarn, that she brought me to Micheals and I bought about 4 yarn balls… Then I started spamming crochet, and it’s where I am now!!! Here is the first crochet project I made with her yarn! (Sorry for blurry pic, it’s just a crop of it at my first market, and good news… It got adopted by a 10 year old girl!)

The second, third, and fourth make I made was freehanded, but I officially started designing patterns about 4 weeks ago, when I joined Ribblr!
